On Saturday, July 25, 2026, LGBTI-phobia claimed another life: an assailant rammed a car into the Berlin Pride parade and attacked participants with knives, killing one person and injuring around thirty. Our thoughts are first and foremost with the victims and their families and loved ones. --- This attack is a fascist attack. Regardless of its banner, the camp of reaction, nationalism, religious fanaticism, and ethnic obsession remains the same: murderous. Even today, it proves that, in its eyes, LGBTI people remain a target. As the far right begins to exploit this situation, it is imperative to remember that we will not rid ourselves of one form of fascism by feeding another. The far right is a hydra that lives by all its heads.
Superficial solidarity with LGBTQ+ struggles must not become a gateway for homonationalist and Islamophobic reactions. We have already seen how Israel tried to justify its genocidal war in Gaza with supposed valuesof inclusion. In France, groups like EROS are trying to import this same rhetoric, and the mainstream bourgeois media are paving the way for them. We are well aware that the far right will never stand with LGBTQ+ people. It has always been against any advancement of their rights and always will be.
The only way out is the same today as yesterday. We won our rights through collective struggle. We will defend them through collective struggle. There will be no justice or hope of defeating the far right as long as patriarchy, racism, and capitalism remain: they fuel each other to maintain a violent and unequal society.
Faced with LGBTI-phobic violence, it is more essential than ever to reject division and build solidarity movements everywhere, to stem the rise of the far right and achieve our emancipation.
