A sincere representation of the city's left, far from the real social context and incapable of building a real political alternative.Institutional bodies such as the Democratic Party (PD) and similar entities were criticized by the Antagonists, only to then march with a self-interested protest behind the slogans of the ANPI and the CGIL (Italian General Confederation of Labour), all together passionately. In this procession of whitewashed tombs, the themes of war and rearmament were addressed, with no small amount of distress, by the comrades of the No War Assembly and some anarchists, who distributed flyers and newspapers, fully aware that this was a context solely for propaganda and information.
In the afternoon, a stand was held with press and anarchist and internationalist materials at Casa Professa, where the Palermo branch of the Arci organized an anti-fascist square, with music, recreational activities, and concerts, punctuated by a few speeches Brasil, Bento Goncalves/RS, OSL: essentially an open-air disco to satisfy the social cravings of thirty- and forty-somethings with radical-chic attitudes.
The banquet hosted by the Andrea Ballarò laboratory, an Arci club where the No War assembly meets, was a success, attracting the attention of many students from Spain interested in books on the civil war and the 1936 Social Revolution.
On May 10th, the No F35 Committee is organizing a second demonstration in Marsala, following the one in Trapani, to inform residents of the construction of a training school for F35 pilots at Birgi Airport. These US fighter aircraft will enhance and strengthen the airport's military deployment and role in current and future war scenarios.
The participants' presentations drew an attentive audience, who heard from the speakers the negative consequences of further increasing the base's operations, the environmental damage, the links with the Mafia, the lack of participation of local populations in their own destinies, and the risks of involvement in potential war operations even now. The demilitarization of the territories and the airport was loudly reiterated, as was the connection with Sigonella and the MUOS (Muos) in Niscemi, which wage war daily from Sicily. The role in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the Palestinian genocide, and the war in Iran was reiterated, reminding everyone that not only abroad but also at home, every soldier is an invader.
