Her author, Tienstiens, and Bandes détournées publishing house return as co-authors of the Paid Holiday Activity Book, 1312 games to prepare for the start of the new school year. --- This holiday activity book, approximately 120 pages long and of a unique kind, actually offers 150 games, from the most classic-crosswords (anti-fascist version), charades, coloring pages, and "true or false"-to, and above all, original games: starting with "communism exams," blank-fill posters or lyrics to militant songs, and other left/right spectrum tests.
The book impresses with its mastery of the theoretical, historical, and cultural breadth and diversity of the radical left. Without sectarianism and always with finesse, brimming with activist and popular references, *The Paid Holiday Notebook* will subtly guide you from the most absurdly comic to the most pedagogical perspectives, allowing you to wonder, from one moment to the next, what's in the "camembert box" or what the concept of "totally automated luxury communism" actually encompasses.
Among a multitude of other characters, you'll encounter Marine Tondelier as the Green Jester, Duralex glasses, and the (almost) complete catalog of the Libertalia company. And because nothing is too good for the working class, let's mention that the notebook is also a beautiful book, printed in color and of high quality, featuring on every page the colorful pencil drawings of Tienstiens, the wonderful double-page spread "Search and Find Protests" by Léa Jarrin, a militant version of "Where's Waldo?", and more logos of left-wing and revolutionary organizations than you've ever seen.
A true instrument of cultural hegemony, mercilessly mocking our class enemies without sacrificing a healthy dose of self-deprecation, we can only rejoice at the publication of this notebook, which reminds us that paid vacations are for having fun and that the Internationale will be humankind!
A notebook aimed at "leftists aged 16 to 116" that will appeal as much to fans of the humor of the French TV series "La Classe américaine" as to those who know everything there is to know about the acronyms of the most obscure anti-fascist groups. And if you finish it before the end of the holidays, you can always explore the rest of the books from the small publishing house Bandes détournées.
Specializing in communist-libertarian humor, détournement (particularly of old, copyright-free comics to create decolonial comics), leftism, ecology, and "the mycological study of temperate European forests," it uses crowdfunding and pays more royalties to authors than traditional publishing. A very nice way to participate in the "de-Bollorization of publishing," and the world!
