Temptation Island is a reality TV show from the 2000s. Four heterosexual couples come to test the strength of their relationships, separated on a paradise island. The production's staging gives viewers an almost grotesque vision of heteronormative couples. The campfire moments, where the couples get a glimpse of what their partners are doing, are scripted and make the audience witnesses to intimacy, almost voyeurs. However, the behaviors are the same as in society: the participants accept their fate, and the boys' club is more privileged than ever.
Tempters, temptresses, or TDS?
We should also question the role of the tempters. They exist for only one thing in this show: seduction. The camera objectifies their bodies; they lose their individuality and become mere objects of temptation. Their role can be likened, to some extent, to sex work: performing seduction through striptease or suggestive dances.

Following the airing of the last season, a series inspired by Temptation Island was posted on TikTok. In several episodes, Skibidi Tentafruit Island features fruit staged as if it were participating in the show. This AI-generated series is striking for its deeply misogynistic perspective. While Temptation Island already serves as a magnifying glass for patriarchy, Skibidi Tentafruit Island exaggerates this even further and raises questions, particularly regarding its target audience, often teenagers.
