The antimilitarist day of June 2nd took place in Trapani with a beautiful and crowded popular assembly in Piazza Saturno, in the heart of the city's historic center. From 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the square was packed with women and men mobilizing against rearmament and war. A delegation of 10 women and men from the AssembleaNoGuerra (NoWar Assembly) participated from Palermo. Various speeches were delivered by people from Trapani, Marsala,
ANTUDO,AssembleaNoGuerra, CARC, and others, opposing the plan to create the first F35 fighter-bomber training school outside the United States at Birgi Airport. The AssembleaNOGuerra speech emphasized the real dangers of war, the real danger of using Trapani's airport for military purposes, as already occurred in 1999 during the war against Yugoslavia and in 2011 during the war against Libya. The growing military spending and the billion-dollar financing of the arms industry, led by Leonardo SpA, were denounced. Full support was given to port and logistics workers who practice conscientious objection by refusing to move weapons on ships, trains, and trucks. The criminal actions of the Israeli army and Zionist settlers in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon were denounced, calling for an end to the war and a Palestine free from war and all political and religious fundamentalism.
In denouncing the imperialist aggression against Iran, full support was given to the Iranian women and men fighting against Tehran's theocracy.
Calling for a world without borders, free and equal, the atrocities of the ongoing wars in Ukraine, Iran, Lebanon, the Sahel, and Palestine were denounced. The assembly expressed its full solidarity with the Kharkiv anti-war assembly and its full support for all draft dodgers, deserters, and saboteurs on every front.
