We invite you to a two-day event (20+) We Host, We Don't Divide! | Facebook dedicated to the idea of a world without borders, mutual assistance, and opposition to all manifestations of xenophobia in our daily lives. --- The first day will be devoted to a discussion about migration - particularly in the context of the ethnic and cultural mosaic of Silesia, whose potential was built thanks to economically motivated migration, and about contemporary struggles for migrant workers' rights.

On Saturday, we will focus on migration, with particular emphasis on the economic exploitation of people on the move. Migrants are particularly vulnerable to labor rights violations. Neocolonialism, by maintaining vast inequalities between individual regions of the world, creates and manages resources of cheap labor according to its own needs. Workers seeking a better life abroad are drawn into capitalist exploitation, forcing them to work beyond their capacity, for a fraction of their worth, and often to perform duties that put their health and lives at risk.
The role of the nation-state has been reduced to a taxpayer-funded administration for global capital, whose primary function is to safeguard its interests. The primary mechanism enabling this efficient implementation is the fueling of antagonisms and the effective management of the "Other figure," especially towards foreigners.
The exploitation of migrants is in no way beneficial to local workers. The deregulation of the labor market and the unlimited supply of cheaper labor severely impact the local working class, further fueling the spiral of resentment and prejudice. On Saturday, we want to discuss how the uncertain situation caused by the lack of regular residence and the threat of deportation has become a tool for controlling workers. These considerations are particularly important for us - residents of Silesia - because of the place where we live. Throughout its modern history, Silesia has been a region of intense migration. The prospect of a better life and dynamic industrialization were a magnet that attracted large numbers of people from different regions, speaking different languages, with diverse experiences and traditions.
This diversity has created a close-knit community characterized by respect for work, class consciousness, and a strong sense of independence.
From this perspective, Upper Silesia seems an inspiring example, especially in the context of the changes and reorganization of the modern world.
Growing xenophobia and aggression, militarization, and the threat of further armed conflicts - these are the dangers we will likely face in the coming future. However, the coming change also brings with it many opportunities and hopes. We will dedicate the second day of the weekend to them - the Neighborhood Intercultural Picnic, an outdoor gathering of cultures, complemented by music, cuisine, and lively interaction.
Together, we will strive to show what a future without prejudice and exploitation, based on mutual assistance and respect for humanity and nature, could look like.
