A looming Witkoff-Kushner visit might just explain why Putin seems more amenable to peace talks this week.
Rumors suggest that Trump’s envoys are set for a Moscow trip before flying to Kyiv this coming weekend, but things haven’t been exactly smooth – unconfirmed reports suggest that one of Kyiv’s airports was struck just before the visit, while a Russian drone reportedly went straight into the window of the SBU chief in the heart of Kyiv – also eerily coincidental considering the recent shootout.
In any case, the talks are reinforced by Budanov’s new revelation that Russia did invite a Ukrainian delegation to Moscow for a meeting with Putin that went nowhere – and now he says the envoys’ visit might help restart the talks.
In other news, as Russia keeps hitting Ukraine with non-stop drone waves, the government is introducing a two-tier siren system alongside reduced curfews to keep the country running, and parliament is now debating whether to provide lifetime protection to top officials who served during wartime.
Ukraine also introduced a new Hr.2,000 bill denomination – a welcome change considering how rough the inflation is getting.
