Word on the street is that the CIA director might be more involved in peace talks – which is a welcome change that’s long overdue.
But before that happens, the escalations are getting worse day by day – just a day after rumors that Russia would strike gas stations in Kyiv, one was blown up this morning in the city, with Russia also stepping up attacks on passenger trains and shopping malls. To keep things running, Kyiv has rolled out its new curfew schedule and two-tier warning – though whether anyone actually works during the lesser yellow warning is another story altogether.
On the front, things might also be underway in the Donetsk region as Ukraine’s hidden successes near Lyman were slowly made public, with Azov’s Biletskyi named a new commander to take charge of Ukraine’s stand in the region; further south in the Zaporizhzhia region, Russia also reportedly has its eyes on the Orikhiv stronghold, which might complicate things.
Diplomatically, Russia has turned to Vietnam for oil deals and civilian aircraft, while Moldova has condemned Moscow for the recent border strikes.
The FSB also claimed it foiled a Ukrainian plot against the British ambassador to Moscow – which is somewhat odd considering how the Kremlin (and the SVR) has a habit of using the Brits as its ideological punching bag.
