We ask: How can one speak of rejecting authority and abolishing prisons while excluding imprisoned anarchist comrades and protesters in Iran from the geography of solidarity?
The Islamic Republic is a structure founded upon terror and repression. From the repression of Kurdistan and Turkmen Sahra in 1979, the imposition of compulsory hijab, the massacres of the 1980s and the mass executions of the summer of 1988, to the Chain Murders, the suppression of student movements, the uprisings of December 2017 and November 2019, the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, and the bloody repression of the recent January protests, this regime has preserved its existence through torture and execution.
The Scale of State Crimes and Repression in Iran
Killings, executions, and mass arrests: The killing of tens of thousands of people, the execution of dozens of protesters, the immediate risk of execution facing more than 100 people, and the arrest of tens of thousands, while arrests continue on a daily basis.
Medical terror and raids on healthcare facilities: Organized attacks by security forces on hospitals, the abduction of wounded people from their hospital beds, and their killing. These crimes caused thousands of injured people to avoid seeking hospital treatment out of fear of arrest, resulting in silent deaths or permanent disabilities in their homes.
Confiscation of property: The seizure and confiscation of the property and assets of hundreds of protesters inside and outside the country for the benefit of the machinery of repression.
The Situation of Anarchist Prisoners Under Torture and Severe Sentences
Afshin Heyratian: An anarchist, Kurd, atheist, and member of a family with a Baha'i background, who has been sentenced under a cruel and severe ruling to 31 years in prison and remains imprisoned.
Soheil Arabi: A Kurdish anarchist and political prisoner with more than a decade of imprisonment and exile behind him. As a result of brutal torture in detention facilities, he has largely lost the function of his kidneys and testicles. Following multiple recent arrests, Soheil is currently temporarily free on heavy bail and remains at risk of receiving another sentence and being returned to prison.

Severe security repression prevents the accurate documentation of all imprisoned comrades, but this lack of information must never become an excuse for forgetting or excluding them.
Our Principles: Universal, Borderless, and Nonselective Solidarity
If execution, torture, and imprisonment are instruments of the structures of state repression, opposition to them must not depend on the political orientation of the prisoner. Genuine anarchist solidarity means the unconditional defense of the right to freedom of all people imprisoned because of their political views, whether they are anarchists, leftists, or even liberals.
Anarchism is the absolute rejection of every form of hierarchy, repression, and control over human bodies and thought.
On the final day of the Week of Global Solidarity, we declare that our struggle for the freedom of all political and anarchist prisoners, without exception, will continue until the machinery of state repression has been completely dismantled.
We will tear down the prisons!
