For over 10 years, between August 23rd and 30th, the International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners has been held, during which various activities and actions take place around the world as a way to demonstrate that anarchists do not forget our imprisoned comrades, but also to coordinate actions against the prison system. --- Within this framework, various individuals are coming together for an anti-prison and solidarity gathering on August 30th, starting at 4 pm, to reflect on our solidarity practices. We consider these spaces necessary to sharpen our positions, subjecting our concepts and ideas to self-criticism, identifying and learning from our mistakes, and recognizing our small victories; collectively supporting each other in the struggle for the destruction of all cages. The path of solidarity and support for prisoners and those persecuted is one fraught with obstacles, sadness, and bitterness. We don't say this to portray ourselves as victims; nothing could be further from our intention. We point this out to better understand the terrain on which we, as individuals engaged in solidarity, operate, and from there, to continue nurturing our conviction to stand with our imprisoned comrades in the struggle for freedom.
During the event, we will present the compilation "We Decided to Stay," which gathers various texts and reflections from imprisoned comrades and support groups on solidarity and the fight against imprisonment.
We will provide updated information on the situation of some imprisoned and persecuted comrades: Miguel Peralta Betanzos, Arturo Lugo "Shevek," and Juan Aliste Vega.
There will be music, food, and drinks.
We look forward to seeing you at Dr. Atl #128, Col. Santa Maria la Ribera
