The fare hike, which would take effect on Oct. 19, is meant to help generate revenue and maintain the ferry system’s growth, according to board materials for this Wednesday’s meeting.
The cost of a 10-trip pass would rise to $30 from $29, while the cost of discounted tickets would go up to $1.50 from $1.45.
The board is also set to consider making the city’s middle school students eligible for the discounted fare, which is currently available only to high school students.
The $15 unlimited two-day ticket, which began as a pilot program last year, would become permanent at the same price if the board greenlights the changes. The last time the ferry fare went up was in 2024, when it rose to $4.50 from $4.

Embattled Brooklyn Democratic Party Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn announced late Monday in an interview on NY1’s "Inside City Hall" that she won't seek another term as party leader.
The announcement came on the eve of a meeting Tuesday of the Brooklyn Democratic Party executive committee, at which party leaders are slated to vote in a new chair.
Because of recent rules changes pushed through by Bichotte Hermelyn, that committee is now stacked with her allies, diluting the power of reformers aligned with the New Kings Democrats who won a majority of seats in the June primary.
“Let us be clear: Brooklyn needs a fair vote by the elected District Leaders,” New Kings Democrats wrote on X. “The Party Chair attempting to pick her own successor after she lost an election isn’t democracy.”
Reformers sued, arguing the rules changes were an illegal power grab, and a state Supreme Court judge sided with them. An appeals court issued a stay while it reviews the case. A ruling is expected in the coming days.
