Denmark: Christiania built on sand ---- Self largest district in Europe and alternative
life experience which will celebrate its 41 years this month, the neighborhood of
Christiania in Copenhagen lives tormented hours since power has made up his mind to expel
its inhabitants and residents . Resistance was organized, but it is hard to cope. --- For
forty years, the neighborhood of Christiania in Copenhagen welcomes those who want to try
a new form of community life. Located on a former military abandoned the original
inhabitants - squatters according to the authorities - decided in 1971 to establish a free
city. The area known quickly renown as well as laboratory social and cultural experiences
as a place of drugs.
Soon, the city built collectives created by various activities, or thematic areas in which
residents are encouraged to get involved to strive for autonomy, which was unfortunately
never fully achieved. These groups play a major role in the success of Christiania,
especially to anticipate many problems. By booking a large space to agricultural crops -
the area is spread over 34 hectares - or by sharing tools and skills, collectives have
risen to the challenge of autonomy while practicing self in everyday life. Christiania has
also sought to maintain systematic contacts with the world of medicine and law to ensure
its independence. Offering those who want ample space to express themselves and develop
their artistic activity, Christiania has constantly grown and now has over a thousand
people - including fifty births over forty years.
Forty years of self
Despite its significant successes since its foundation, Chistiana is in conflict with the
Danish authorities. For a long time past closed their eyes on the progress of activities
Christiania, seeing the 'marginal' s choosing to "self-park" behind the brick walls of the
old barracks, thus facilitating monitoring. This concentration also provides a financial
benefit, the inhabitants and residents of Christiania earning a minimum income - the
equivalent of our RSA - lower than the other inhabitants of Copenhagen. The situation
could have stopped there, but it was not counting land pressure faced by urban centers. In
2006, based on the fact that the presence of the inhabitants was only tolerated by the
city that had never sold the land occupied, the government had no difficulty to outlaw the
current occupation.
Painful compromises
Start the first demolitions and accompanying protests. In 2011, residents are offered to
buy plots. When we know that most people are just coming to Christiania to give merchants
the links, we measure the cynicism of the decision. Discussions around this "proposal"
gives rise to heated debates within the community, but ultimately the choice of partial
redemption wins a narrow majority. The second generation of people sees the only way to
pursue the ideal of "free city." The group also decided to establish a fund to build a
building capable of accommodating older who can never pay anyway habitat. This decision,
though ensuring the survival of temporarily Christiania, still leaves deep divisions
between groups, tensions still unsettled at the moment, to the delight of the Danish
Conservative parties. Harassed by the government, highlighted in tourist guides who try to
turn into attraction, Christiania lives today perhaps the most serious crisis of its

Supportive public finance: The old shed its skin SNUI
From 19 to 21 June, the Union Solidarity SNUI South Treasury held its 28th congress in
Albi. Among the most militant in a sector where social unrest is well established, the
union changed its name during the last Congress for Partners Public Finance.
Directorate of Public Finance (DGFIP) is amalgamated in 2008 and tax administrations of
the Treasury. Since 2007, it is not less than 15,000 job cuts, or the non-replacement of 3

consolidated its top position. Most of the activists on the ground are Solidarity trade
unionists and the CGT. The latter accepts the unity of action with Solidarity. FO was the
majority union "hand in hand with the directors" in the old Treasury, came to keep playing
posture radical its public expression.
Reaffirmation of political independence
Solidarity Public Finance is the largest union of the Trade Union Solidarity with just
over 20,000 members (about 100,000 in the Union). Its general approach that can
characterize today combative and anti-liberal citizen is distinguished from other unions
more openly anti-capitalist South. Thus, the reaffirmation of the political independence
of the trade union at the conference last June is not neutral as it is a left-wing
government is now in power. The decision to change the name - 72% - was also the occasion
