(en) France, Alternative Libertaire AL - Obituary - A revolutionary doctor disappears Paul Denais (fr, pt)

He had participated in the resistance during the occupation, fought to free Algeria, led
some covert operations in Franco's Spain. He was a doctor, libertarian communist, was a
pillar of Tribune anarchist communist in the years 1970-1980 and a friend of Alternative
libertarian. Paul Denais died at age 92. ---- Refractory labor service (STO) under Nazi
Occupation, Paul had joined the resistance movement Defence of France. Became a doctor in
1952, he was chosen in 1960 to practice in community health centers or Social Security.
---- Came in 1958 in the Anarchist Federation, there was disappointment operation which
seemed locked by the owner of the "works" of the organization group, but also by the
neutrality of the FA vis-?-vis the war of Algeria.

Engaged, for its part, in favor of independence, cosigna the Manifesto of the 121 in
September 1960. He then joined the Union of Communist anarchist groups (UGAC) a
libertarian communist and anti-colonial trend in AF. In UGAC he met, among others,
Micheline Stern, where he became the inseparable companion. Until the 2000s, we were
regularly crossing the couple in all the battles of the libertarian movement.

At that time, he participated in the anti-Franco struggle. With activists of the Iberian
Federation of Libertarian Youth (FIJL) in exile, and he saw action in Spain, as the attack
against the monument of El Valle de los Ca?dos , in August 1962, which also participated
Frank Mintz .

In 1964, the UGAC scissionna FA and for the next thirty years, Paul Denais was active in
this small organization and its avatars. In 1970, the group turned UGAC-journal under the
name of anarchist communist Tribune (commonly called "Tac"). Paul, Micheline and peers -
including Guy Bourgeois - ?dit?rent magazine until 1993.

The UGAC, then Tac, had a rather unorthodox path within the libertarian movement, marked
by theoretical research, the desire to build an anti-capitalist front after May 68, and
the Third World.

Paul and his classmates and Denais effectu?rent several trips to study the "self"
Yugoslav, and participated in 1968-1972 in various attempts anticapitalist Combinations
(CIMR, CIC ...) who made long.

In September 1970, he took part in the expedition organized by the health ILD after the
massacre of Black September in Jordan. At the same time, he was active in the French
Committee for Relief to the Vietnamese people and the medical and health assistance to
Vietnam Committee.

He put his skills as a doctor serving struggles, and this as well for great causes
(Palestine, Vietnam) for everyday activism. In the 1980s, he ordered and often complacent
sick-leave some postmen of UTCL , allowing them to get out some time sorting center to
devote himself to the activist work ...

In May 1989, Paul Denais was among the first 100 signatories of the Appeal for a
libertarian alternative , which is the forerunner of the AL. It does not, however, adhered
to the new organization, but attended his rallies and activists in social movements, in
particular within Action against unemployment! (AC!) In the 1990s.

We extend our friendship and solidarity with his wife, Micheline.
