De Wereldbeker voetbal van 2014 bracht heel wat sociale beroering teweeg, voornamelijk in het land waar dit megaspektakel zich diende af te spelen, Brazilië. De aanloop er naar toe was dan ook heftig: een grote sociale beweging die de macht en de commercie contesteerde. Megaprotesten, confrontatie en vernielingen die duidelijk stelden dan men de geplande herorganisatie van de stad, waarbij vooral de armen moeten wijken, niet zonder slag of stoot zou slikken. Vorig jaar in april kwam een vriendin de context van de aanloop naar de spelen en de oproer in Rio schetsen, nu brengt ze het vervolgverhaal over de periode tijdens en na het kampioenschap.
