	ABD DOUMANY/AFP/Getty Images At least one out of every three Syrians are now living in desperate or uncertain conditions either as internally displaced individuals or as refugees outside Syria's borders. With winter looming, there is added pressure to help more refugees before the snow and ice make their lives worse.  Dear, Our hearts go out to every person touched by the attacks in Beirut and Paris this past week.  No person should have to live in fear of violence. Amnesty is working to help people who are faced with the threat of violence every day and who are fleeing such violence - like many Syrian refugees are.  Last September, there was global outcry in response to the heartbreaking photo of drowned three-year-old Aylan Kurdi.  But since the outcry, there has been too little action to help refugees fleeing Syrian government bombs, attacks by the armed group that calls itself Islamic State, and other grave risks. At least one out of every three Syrians are now living in desperate or uncertain conditions.  Please make an urgent donation to Amnesty so we can advocate for families who have risked everything in search of safe haven from war.  They're under added pressure. Winter will pose additional risks to refugee families.  Amnesty research teams have been working on the front lines of the refugee crisis in Greece, Hungary and Jordan; documenting human rights abuses, inspecting detention centers and pressuring governments around the world to take in more refugees.  But we need to do more. Help us: Advocate for safe routes to be opened for refugees as they seek sanctuary. Push governments to resettle the most vulnerable 10% of refugees. Call for improved humanitarian access so Syrians still inside Syria can get blankets and other winter essentials. Urge the U.S. government to move quickly to resettle refugees and ensure enough funding for food and other necessities. Investigate human rights abuses and document the situation facing refugees in Europe and around the world. Unlike many other organizations, we don't accept funding from governments for our research or advocacy. That would only jeopardize the pressure we can apply. That's why we need you.
