Dolphins, sea turtles and birds are eating plastic bags

Ban Plastic Bags
in New South Wales, Australia!

Dear friends,
As hungry sea turtles glide through the waters around Australia, more and more of them are encountering a new snack. But the problem with this snack is that it's actually a plastic bag – and it will ultimately kill them. In fact, around one out of every three leatherback turtles has plastic in its stomach right now.
Australians use a whopping 3.92 billion plastic bags every year, and around 10 million new bags every single day. Most of those end up either in landfills – or in the water. Marine life like sea turtles, whales, dolphins, seabirds, and fish mistake plastic debris for food and eat these non-degradable substances. This causes blocks in their digestive systems, and it frequently kills them.
Only a ban on single-use plastic bags at retail outlets can curb the number of plastic bags that kill these innocent creatures. Many of the regional governments in Australia have passed measures to outlaw single-use plastic bags, but New South Wales has not.
The Green party recently introduced a bill to ban these bags, but they need our support to help convince Parliament to pass it. Will you sign the petition to show New South Wales that the world is waiting for them to do the right thing?
Thank you for all that you do,
 Miranda B.
