#WORLD #WORLDWIDE #CZECH #ANARCHISM #News #Journal #Update - (en) #Czech, #AFED: The magic of extreme attitude or Duke as a warning [machine translation]

Our sympathizer's comment on one "reactionary reaction" against the background of

the 150th anniversary of the Paris Commune ---- Dukas Dream ---- Dominik Duka
regularly shows us how dangerous it is to succumb to the illusion that man is the
owner of absolute truth. He reaffirmed this in the content of his " lecture " he
gave at the International Eucharistic Congress in Budapest. ---- Duke's speech
begins with praise from the Hungarians, "a nation that respects freedom and
parliamentarism, which is an essential element of democracy . " Viktor Orbán must
have been blissful about these words. Afterwards, Duka places the congress in a
"historical" framework, although it is more of a disparate list of events and
names, in which Duka confuses fifth through ninth. Join the Paris Commune, about
which the following tells us:

" The Prussian army then left Paris and we can say the whole of France at the
mercy of leftists and radicals, who were inspired by the communist manifesto, and
Karl Marx praised them. The defeat of the communards is mourned by the whole
left. We do not find a single word in the current publications or on the pages of
wikipedia about the fact how many lives her opponents had to sacrifice, both from
the ranks of the population and from the ranks of church people. Archbishop
Georges Darboy of Paris is also among the first victims of the communards. "

The cardinal is wrong, the Czech wikipedia states the following under the motto
Paris Commune: " In May, the situation escalated, as documented by the mass
execution carried out by the revolutionaries on May 24, 1871. Among the 64
corpses was the body of Archbishop Georges Darboy."

Duka rushing to other events, martyrs and saints, has no room to mention that
after the defeat of the Commune, during the terror of the victors, tens of
thousands of people were executed. Or do these victims, "leftists and radicals,"
not deserve Duke's compassion?

In the lecture, Duka again does not forget to mention his favorite topic, namely
that "a global barbaric and intolerant struggle for a revolution in our
civilization is taking place in a global society . " He says that fundamental
values are "rejected and replaced by values that are disguised as ideas of
Marxism, Maoism, anarchism." They are "ideologies that deny any truth, including
the Truth, and replace it with an evil ideology that they promote by force . "
But Duka reassures the listener by claiming that "the Word of eternal Truth is
invincible . "

The cardinal claims that in today's society "there is a dictatorship of
relativism" . It is a fact that the relativization of everything can be a sign of
hopelessness or nihilism, and that such an approach will relieve us of the
difficulties that come with decision-making and taking a certain attitude, but at
the same time relativization will not really help us. But if Duka opposes
relativism not only the truth but the Truth, the possibility of dialogue is
essentially impossible. His attitude is, in fact, dogmatic and precludes any
possibility of plurality. After all, Duka's long-term behavior proves how
intolerant a dogmatist he is. The fact that he would like to see himself as the
one who testifies to the truth "with a raised head, peaceful and with courage,
love and meekness" does not change anything . When I imagine an angry Duke
attacking everything that is different from his Truth, he just wants to laugh at
such a description.

Duke's strong stance on the Commune reminded me of the strong views on the
Spanish Civil War that we may encounter quite often. In the text The Society of
Jesus in Spain in 1931-1938, an unknown author (most likely a Jesuit) describes
that in republican Spain, "all honest people were found to be persecuted (...)
persecuted . However, priests and religious were persecuted with particular
hatred. "The author adds that the benefit of their imprisonment was the fact that
they could provide spiritual comfort to Francoist prisoners. In Francoist Spain,
on the other hand, priests went to convicts to offer them the opportunity to
confess."Also in national Spain, our fathers are preparing those sentenced to
death with the greatest zeal. In this part of Spain, of course, these are
murderers and criminals who have been convicted by a court. Many of these
criminals received a Christian upbringing, but were seduced by Moscow's envoys
and corrupted, sometimes committing the most heinous crimes. "

The author of the text was therefore quite clear about that. Republicans
persecute and execute all "honest", while in national Spain only "murderers and
criminals" are executed, who, in addition, are given the opportunity to confess
their sins before execution. How generous...

But we can also meet with a different attitude of Catholics. He was also held by
Georges Bernanos, a well-known French Catholic writer at the time. In the book
The Great Cemeteries in the Moonlight, he describes his experience from Mallorca,
where he witnessed the purges carried out on the island by Frankish troops. For
many Catholics, this book was quite surprising, as Bernanos was known for his
conservative views when he also supported the Francoists for some time.

However, Bernanos approached what was happening in Mallorca with inner honesty.
When he saw the utterly unreasonable Francoist terror against anyone who was a
little suspicious of sympathy with the Republicans, he could not remain silent.
The book The Great Cemeteries in the Moonlight is thus its alignment with
Francoism. I recommend this book to Duke to read.

Violence and executions are terrible, no matter which party. Duka often speaks
ostentatiously about his love of neighbor. Despite these proclamations, it gives
me the impression that he does not actually see man in his opponents. At the
Commune, several hundred of his "neighbors" mourn the death, ignoring the
thousands executed.

Duka lacks any overlap. His nationalism, ultraconservatism, and bigotry are far
more credible than his Christian proclamations of mercy and love. Duka is a
warning example of what will happen to a man who has been swallowed up by his
Truth and who has forgotten humanity. But I do not lose hope that Mr. Cardinal
will one day grow up to radical Christian thought and exchange the magic of
extreme attitude for the magic of understanding. Understanding that even leftists
were and are people. At the same time, the Cardinal has my assurance that I still
see a man in him. Despite the "malevolent ideology" of anarchism to which I
subscribe.
