At the beginning of September 2022, in Le Mans, entire families are sleeping on
the streets after being evicted by the 115 from an emergency accommodation centerwith the blessing of the Sarthe prefecture. ---- It is to date a dozen familiesand more than twenty children from 3 to 17 years old who live daily in inhumanconditions while waiting for accommodation or housing to which they arelegitimately entitled. . Among these families, deprived of papers and housing,there are often single women with young children, people with disabilities andsick people whose pathologies worsen with conditions of extreme precariousness,insecurity and stress imposed on them by public authorities. ---- Neither theState, which flouts its own laws by refusing them decent housing, nor the TownHall of Le Mans, which nevertheless has the power to requisition vacant housing,take their responsibilities.Following the expulsion by the 115 of an emergency accommodation centre, asolidarity group decided to requisition the Barbara neighborhood center in LeMans to shelter these families and demand decent accommodation for all. .DRIn many cases, the only solidarity offered to these families comes from peoplethemselves in a situation of precariousness or even poverty who replace theinaction of the State and local authorities.
