Since the beginning of the "special operation" of the Russian army in Ukraine,
one of the most interesting experiences of collaboration between variouspolitical tendencies and orientations is that of the group of the "FeministAntimilitarist Resistance" which meets since February 24 women coming from thearea of anarchism, of Marxist and democratic socialism and in general of themilitant feminism that has grown in the country in recent years. In the Manifestoin which this grouping was launched at the beginning of the conflict it wasargued that "War is violence, poverty, forced migration, broken lives, insecurityand the disappearance of future prospects. It goes against the whole essence ofthe feminist movement. War reinforces gender inequalities and can delay all humanrights gains by many years. War involves not only physical violence, but alsosexual violence; history shows that in war the risk of rape for a womanmultiplies many times over. For these and many other reasons, feminist women inRussia and those who share feminist values must take a strong stand against thiswar unleashed by our country's leaders. "A war that would take the country backto the darkest times in its history. when abortion was banned as evidenced by theintroduction a few weeks ago in the province of Ryazan to introduce themoratorium on abortions. "The current war, as Putin's speech shows, is alsotaking place under the flag of ideology of "traditional values", which Russiawould have decided to spread around the world using violence against those whodisagree with them or have different opinions. What these "traditional values"are is clear to anyone who can think critically: the exploitation of women andthe fight against those whose lifestyle, whose self-determination and whoseactivities go beyond a strict norm patriarchal. Justifying the occupation of aneighboring state with the desire to bring there their own distorted norm andtheir own demagogic "liberation" is another reason why feminists across Russiashould oppose this war with all their might. TheKuban completely absorbed the Ukrainian culture, at the beginning of the 20thcentury the absolute majority of the population considered themselves Ukrainianand spoke the Ukrainian language. This influence is still felt today: about60-70% of the inhabitants of the Kuban have a Ukrainian surname and rich roots inUkraine. Today the state does not speak at all about the atrocities committed bythe Soviet empire in the land of Kuban. The Ukrainian people were persecuted, areal genocide began. The whole Kuban became Russian. As a result, under theinfluence of years of propaganda, lies and terror, the empire managed to almostcompletely destroy the Ukrainian identity in the Kuban.As can be seen in this letter, it is evident that the "national question" in theformer USSR is not one-sided and can not be understood in simply chauvinistic terms.The "online" activity of Feminist Antimilitarist Resistance as the activists tellus is only a small part of their activity. Every day, leaflets and posters areattached to the walls of the city where war is denounced, psychologicalassistance is guaranteed to women who have departed in war and stakes andflashmobs are organized. But above all on a monthly basis (with June we reachedthe fourth issue) the newspaper "Zhenskaja Pravda" (The Truth of Women) ispublished in which the variety of contradictions and tragedies that the conflictbrings to light in simple language is highlighted. and clear, understandable toevery woman.
