Dubé, which we share. From Bas-du-rivière to Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, theelectoral comedy is the same; this system offers no choice but to paintcapitalism green. ---- I attended several debates in the region to overcome myprejudices about the electoral circus, but these were reinforced towards thepower-hungry. Organized as part of the "Week of Debates Turns Green", theenvironmental debate last Friday evening at the Cégep de Rimouski confirmed that, during an election campaign, you can say anything at any time. ---- Overview ofthe 4 parties present ---- It was disgraceful and insulting to hear the LiberalParty and the Parti Québécois promise nonsense about green hydrogen, cleanengines and other miracles to the green people in the room, as if these twopolitical enterprises did not have a long history of environmental destruction.By what leap of faith should we grant them an iota of enduring trust? The PLQ is a party founded in 1867, it's been frothing Quebec for more than 150years, they are not killable there, they are mafia vampires. The Rimouskicandidate has proposed a "Blue Plan" which consists of "industrially exploitingthe riches of the Saint-Laurent", and we listen to him, obediently, unfolding hisneoliberal vision. Let us remember that the last time this party was in power, the Liberal Minister of the Environment had maintained that the drilling of theoil company TransCanada in a nursery of beluga whales off Cacouna was"necessary". I can also assure you that the multimillionaire leader of theLiberals will never massively tax wealth as demanded by environmental groups. Noclimate justice without social justice. The PQ had as leaders Lucien Bouchard the spokesperson for the oil industry andPierre Karl Péladeau le Gargamel inc.; the political party was in power only 18months the last time and it found a way to propose drilling Anticosti Island foroil, building the McInnis cement plant in Gaspésie (the most polluting project inhistory of the province) and to pollute the social climate of Quebec with theirCharter of values. The least bad environmental party, Québec Solidaire, is nevertheless favorable tothe extension of Highway 20 eastward, to the lithium mining rush, barelyaddresses the delicate question of the production and consumption of meat andrefuses the decrease. Also, as Pierre-Olivier Pineau of HEC Montréal explainsabout our lifestyles: "QS avoids explaining head-on to voters that they will haveto learn to live with significant direct constraints, particularly on the usecar." Because it is not enough to offer more public transport, we must alsoradically constrain solo driving to have results. But, the energy sector expertadmits all the same that the QS climate plan is "among the most documented andthe most serious that I have seen"[1].For his part, the gruff candidate of the Climate Quebec party, a former Blocmember, nonchalantly read his sheets between two naps during the electoraldebate, constantly repeating that he would not be elected and wondering what hewas doing there. Moreover, on the airwaves of CFYX, the candidate invited thepopulation to vote strategically for... the PQ candidate![2]However, during thedebate, the Climate Quebec candidate had come out in favor of a revolution in ourmorals, of our ways of producing, of our consumerism, blah blah... We have tobelieve that in the end, there is continuity after 28 years of PQ power in Rimouski.Absent from the debate, having refused to participate, the CAQ candidate hasnever been so relevant and honest in terms of ecology. After 4 years, let'sremember what is being said: "the[environmental]assessment of the CAQ weigheddown by a lack of coherence and vision"[3], as well as "the experts consulted byLe Devoir agree on one point: the CAQ plan will not make it possible to achievethe objective[climate]of 2030. Speaking of missing his target, special mention toPhilippe Cousineau Morin, this Rimouski municipal councilor, who publiclysupported the CAQ candidate "for his concern for the environment".Also absent, Stéphanie Du Mesnil of the Conservative Party inspired me to do thisriddle. Éric Duhaime and the PCQ are on the boat. Duhaime and the PCQ fall intothe water. What's left? Hope for a better world. Finally free with us!Public question period"It doesn't matter for whom, the important thing is to vote" agreed to say the 4political parties in the service of the parliamentary system.During question period, the contempt of the candidates present towards those whodid not vote was a total lack of respect and demonstrated their low esteemtowards the citizens who refuse their bourgeois system. How fashionable it is tomarginalize abstainers. However, the real problem is not the people who do notvote, the problem is to vote again and again for capitalist parties, conservatives, for the right addicted to growth, to meritocracy, to the chimerasof runoff economy and "life-saving" technologies. Not to vote is not to abdicate, it is to commit radically by other means, it isto consider that democracy deserves better than parliamentarism where the peoplegive up their vote every four years. The incantation of "It doesn't matter forwhom, the important thing is to vote" demonstrates how the parties and theirimagination come straight from an assembly line of a political factory producingvarious shades of green capitalism.During the elections, the political parties catapult us human beings ascandidates, but once the votes have been collected, they pack everything up, sothe population finds itself faced with a bureaucratic system, a violent state andaddresses a cold machine.Fred DubePublished on the website of the newspaper Le Mouton noir[1]https://www.lapresse.ca/elections-quebecoises/2022-09-04/vu-lu-et-verifie/le-plan-climat-de-quebec-solidaire-vise-t-il-juste.php?fbclid=IwAR2oo8TnLbmn5bdIAp4RR9DxfM2T1Pvwv5ABw0TUByG272M-se0XS6CmK-A#[2]https://journallesoir.ca/2022/09/26/samuel-ouellet-obtient-un-support-inattendu/?fbclid=IwAR1Mi4cLroXd0JI3IaXmBorS6XGRNOpDhH3dr4kpxUatrfiG_SKv9OJDoJ8[3]https://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/1907129/elections-bilan-environnement-caq-gouvernement-legault-changements-climatiquesby Emma Goldman Collectivehttp://ucl-saguenay.blogspot.com/2022/09/debat-electoral-sur-lenvironnement.html_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
