Patriarchal systems have always sought to take over our freedom, our
ability to produce life and our bodies. Capitalism, politics andreligion as tools of control and repression, applying laws andtraditions to us, subject us to reproduction and care. Our life and ouruterus at the service of a system that wants us controlled, submissiveand dependent. ---- The fight for our freedom has been constantthroughout the world. ---- Examples such as the Green Tide, which fromArgentina has been spreading to Latin America and the rest of the world,continues in the gap. From here we congratulate and celebrate the recentvictory of our colleagues in Mexico, where a few days ago abortion wasfinally decriminalized.In our country we have Organic Law 1/2023 on sexual and reproductivehealth and voluntary interruption of pregnancy, of February 28. This lawadvances in the recognition of reproductive, menstrual and sexualrights, but 7 months later we are still waiting for its deployment.We demand that access to abortion and sexual and reproductive health beguaranteed throughout the Public Health system and throughout theterritory immediately. Free and harassment-free access to the referencecenter. We demand immediate and urgent attention, because time is adetermining factor. And ultimately, it has the necessary budget and thefull deployment of this regulation is implemented regardless of thepolitical color of the community or the province.But despite our fight, today, there are still 129 countries whereabortion is limited to certain circumstances or is not allowed at all:in 13 countries it is limited for socio-economic reasons, in 50countries it is limited to preserve health, in 42 countries are onlyauthorized to save a woman's life and in 23 countries abortion iscompletely prohibited, including El Salvador, Honduras, Malta, Andorraand San Marino. (*)In these countries, the lack of access to legal abortion leads to anincrease in the maternal mortality rate and health risks, resulting inunsafe and clandestine abortions. The stigmatization and discriminationof women increases the emotional and psychological impact, whileincreasing gender inequality. From CGT we join the fight to claim the right to access to freeabortion, in public, legal, free and universal healthcare. We claim thefull right to decide about our bodies and our health. We demand accessto this right for every woman and pregnant person.
