Gabriela Bankova – a courageous trans woman – went on a 12 day hunger strike outside the Court House in Bulgaria, after the Sofia District Court denied her request to change her gender marker in the civil registers.

The Bulgarian government is refusing to let trans people change their registered gender, going against court orders. This is a clear violation of basic human rights, aiming to silence trans voices.

Now, after surviving a hunger strike in the Bulgarian winter, and two abusive arrests by the local police, Gabi has moved her protest online.
