On November 11, the ultra-rightists could not claim that the streets of
Warsaw belonged to them, because an anti-fascist street party was alsoheld there. ---- As every year, November 11 became one of the largestpublic demonstrations of neo-Nazi power in Europe. On "IndependenceDay", thousands of them gathered in the capital from all over Poland andwere supported by neo-Nazis from other countries. Crowds ofconservatives and other members of the right, who are close to the(still) current ruling PiS party and the Polish Catholic Church, takepart in this traditional march through Warsaw alongside the neo-Nazis.One of the topics of the demonstration was "Stop the Ukrainization ofPoland", which shows that anti-Ukrainian sentiments are on the rise .patriotic wing of Polish society relatively strong.November 11 is traditionally considered the most dangerous day of theyear in Warsaw. On this day, it is dangerous on the streets not only forpeople with migration experience, anti-fascists, LGBTQ+ people and otherminorities who do not fit into the logic of national unity and patrioticfervor, but ordinary people can also catch it. On this day, thousands ofultra-rightists descend on the capital for a hundred-thousand-strongtorchlight procession in honor of Poland's independence. Theconcentration of nationalists charged with patriotic fury on this dayregularly leads to numerous violence in the streets of the city. Eventhe participants of the march itself, who stand outside the neo-Nazicircles, often say that they are afraid at the demonstration.Polish anti-fascists, however, do not leave the "Independence March"unanswered. And so they called the anti-fascist street party "Za WolnoscWasza i Nasza!" (For your and our freedom) to the streets of Warsaw onthe same day. Local anarchist groups were also actively involved. Amongthem are also our friends from Belarus, who found asylum in the Polishcapital from the repressive regime of the dictator Lukashenko. Regardingtheir participation in the event, they wrote: "In such an atmosphere, weconsider it unacceptable to hide at home and hand the city over to theNazis. For many years, anarchists and anti-fascists have organizedcounter-demonstrations on this day. Traditionally, as in previous years,we joined such a demonstration and reminded that fascism can take manyforms, but that does not change its essence. It is the masking policythat has led to the patrons of these street hooligans being in power andenabling such actions. And if in Poland this process was started a longtime ago and we have to deal with its consequences, in the Belarusianprotest environment we can still prevent yesterday's football hooligansfrom getting into opposition 'democratic' structures. If we neglect itnow, then in post-Lukashenkov Belarus, March 25 may become similar toPoland's November 11, with an atmosphere of concentrated hatred andviolence."Thanks to the street party, which was attended by about 10,000 people,on November 11, the streets of Warsaw were not only full of hatred andreligious obscurantism, but also a variety of music, entertainment anddancing.
