On Monday, May 27, call center workers will go on strike once again,
based on the new 24-hour strike. This strike is the fourth in a row in
the sector in question, after two others had preceded it in February,
more specifically at Teleperformance, Webhelp, TTEC and FoundEver, and
another one in March 2024. ----- Teleperformance Greece is one of the
largest service providers in Greece. It is part of a multinational group
of French interests with subsidiaries in 80 countries and employs
330,000 workers worldwide, while working with a number of multinationals
such as Microsoft, Apple, Volkswagen, Facebook, Canon, Netflix and many
others. Taking advantage of both boss-friendly legislation, low wages
and the special purpose visa status of third-country workers, it has
become the group's management center for Southern Europe and the Middle
East, employing more than 12,000 workers in the country. The constant
flow of calls, the systematic increase in the production rate combined
with the daily productivity control, the constant layoffs, the constant
delays in the negotiation of a collective labor agreement, the meager
wages outline the working conditions faced by the workers/ e.g. At the
same time, Teleperformance, in the face of the formation of a business
union and the dynamic mobilizations of the last few months, is trying to
silence the collective struggle of the workers with pressure and
intimidation.
We are in a period where state and capitalist aggression is constantly
sharpened through a series of bills aimed at the bottom of anti-social
and anti-labor restructuring, where the great majority of society is
faced with both the risk of destitution and the imposition of more
burdensome and savage conditions exploitation in the labor camps. The
further plundering of the social base is done by the giantization of
precision in basic goods of everyday life, while at the same time the
meager wages and salaries are not enough to cover the cost of living.
Those who stand up against the conditions of exploitation and oppression
that are constantly imposed on those from below, the attack on the labor
achievements by the criminalization of trade union action, the de facto
illegalization of the strike, the abolition of labor inspection and the
anti-labor laws that the one succeeds the other regardless of political
management they face state and employer terrorism.
As anarchists we stand in solidarity with the just fight waged by call
center workers against labor exploitation, precariousness and employer
terrorism. Against state and capitalist restructurings of exclusions,
subjugation and repression, the devaluation of our lives, impoverishment
and oppression, against states and bosses that oppress our lives to
intensify social and class struggles. Let us all stand together on the
road and struggles of social resistance and class solidarity. The only
prospect for a society of equality, solidarity and freedom, without
exploitation and oppression, lies in our own hands, in the struggle for
social and class emancipation.
