The mobilization against the eviction of the Anarchist Space 19 July in
Garbatella has not stopped. On Thursday 20 June there will be the second
solidarity demonstration starting from 8:00 am and the press conference
at 11:30 am at the Spazio Anarchico 19 Luglio (metro B) in Garbatella in
via Rocco da Cesinale 16,18. They have been months full of commitments
and the support and concrete solidarity that has arrived has been great.
There were also many statements of solidarity but there was no
revocation of the request for the useless police intervention. The
political leadership of Ater Roma (Lazio Region) is in fact continuing
with its "war" activated against us and against those associations,
social and cultural spaces against which, from time to time, it is
pouring out all its authoritarian frustration with the aim of "choking"
and closing, one after the other, all the realities of self-managed
freedom, an integral part of the cultural heritage of this city. As far
as we are concerned, we inform you that Ater Roma is continuing to want
to keep us out of the opportunities of the repayment plans which can be
accessed, as others have already done, through the administrative
procedures that we have already activated. Despite the requests to
arrive at a realistic rent adequate to the economic and popular
characteristics of the place in question, which we remember has been
abandoned for 25 years, the counteractions activated by the political
leadership of Ater were motivated with fictitious , false and defamatory
information. It has now become clear that the real reason for this
denigrating desire is entirely political and not administrative. We are
talking about a room of around 100 square meters left in the rubble for
decades and which came back to life in 2011, made usable thanks to the
free subscription and free labor of the self-managed economy jobs
implemented by the participants. We still have a lot to do, say, write
to change the current condition for the better. We will not resign
ourselves to the authoritarian demands that are thrown at us with the
aim of opposing and setting back our path, nor in the face of
speculation and gentrification, militarization and wars, the closure of
health and cultural services, the repression of demands for freedom in
all affected social and economic sectors. We will not stop informing
that, today like yesterday, nationalism and warmongering politics do not
take care of the interests of the popular classes bitten by the lack of
income and freedom and that, on the contrary, they increase massacres,
exploitation, oppression on the skin and with the blood of poor people.
Our current situation, which has its roots in the historical
anti-fascist memory of the city of Rome and in particular in the
Garbatella district, has not moved a millimeter and is demonstrated
today as yesterday in a clear and transparent way in the activities and
daily requests for freedom activated and well documented both in the
Fabio Iacopucci popular library and in the archive of the anarchist
group C. Cafiero FAI Rome which, among others, also houses private funds.
We want to dedicate the protest of 20 June to the eightieth anniversary
of the liberation of Rome from Nazi-fascism on 4 June 1944 and we invite
entities, associations, collectives, individuals etc. to participate in
the protest against the eviction of the Anarchist Space 19 July on
Thursday 20 June and once again support the demands for freedom.
