WORLD WORLDWIDE US USA New York NY - New York City NYC - THE CITY - Adams allies’ trip to Japan included a registered lobbyist

Dear New Yorkers,
Jesse Hamilton is a close ally of Mayor Eric Adams, who appointed him to oversee the city’s real estate operations.
He recently went on a trip to Japan with the mayor’s chief advisor, Ingrid Lewis-Martin. Also along for the ride: Adam Clayton Powell IV, a former elected official who is now a registered lobbyist.
Both Hamilton and Lewis-Martin had their phones seized by law enforcement upon their return to New York City.
In other news from Adams’ inner circle, multiple reports on Friday said that First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright was expected to step down from her role.
The news came about a month after federal authorities searched the home that Wright shared with Schools Chancellor David Banks, who is also stepping down this fall. (Wright and Banks got married two weeks ago, a move that will prevent prosecutors from asking them to testify against one another.)
Read more about Hamilton and Powell here and more about Wright’s reported resignation here.
