We are relaying this information disseminated by our comrades of the
CNT-AIT ---- The workers of Orange Fox Bike (1) are on strike to demand
respect for their dignity from a rogue boss who exploits them like
slaves. Indeed, in this tourist bike rental company, and where the
workers work as guides or mechanics, they work without a contract and
are paid peanuts. ---- They are demanding in particular a proper
employment contract. Faced with the boss's refusal to respect even the
legal minimum, the workers have decided to move to the next level and
have been occupying the company for a week. They are self-organizing as
a collective, supported by union activists, and are even thinking about
an "after", without a boss.
Already, that workers dare to go on strike, dare to confront their boss,
dare to occupy their company, dare to think about alternative solutions,
is quite remarkable in the current situation of defeatism and social gloom.
But what is quite exceptional is that these workers are Russian and
Ukrainian! Rather than making war on each other, they practice
solidarity, class solidarity! They put into practice the old adage of
the workers' movement "no war, except class struggle". They demonstrate
by their action that workers have the same interests, and that their
enemy is not their class brother (or sister) but the boss who exploits them.
In the premises of the tourist bicycle rental company, the strikers made
placards. They express their state of mind and joyfully brighten up the
walls:
- Russians and Ukrainians, the same capital enemy
- work kills, strikes save
- Russian and Ukrainian workers on strike
- Half paid, completely despised
- the company logo, a little orange fox, is revisited ...
The Olga Taratuta Solidarity Initiative offers its full solidarity to
these young companions and calls for support by popularizing their
struggle, by spreading information and press releases, by participating
in solidarity actions such as the bike demonstration on November 22.

The Orange Fox Bikes strikers have begun the occupation of the company!
The strike of Russian and Ukrainian tourist guides has been going on for
a month already! The boss is still refusing us employment contracts. We,
the guides and mechanics worked for EUR7 per hour, some of us for 7 days
a week and up to 10 hours a day. We are refugees and immigrants, some of
us are activists against the war between our countries. The bosses took
advantage of this situation. After the start of the strike, they
threatened to do everything to send us back to our countries of origin
where prison for our activism or war threatens us.
The strike received significant support from the CGT and was the subject
of strong media coverage: articles and reports were produced by Le
Parisien, l'Humanité, Médiapart, Libération, Le Nouvel Obs, BFMTV etc.
But the owner of the company still refuses to negotiate with us,
considering our demands "unrealistic". He is dragging out the conflict
in the hope of exhausting us morally and financially. It is vital for
our struggle to participate through your donations to our strike fund.
Our collective does not intend to give in! Today, Friday, November 15,
we the strikers began the occupation of the company premises with the
support of several dozen CGT activists. We will continue until our
demands are met!
We are currently thinking about how to continue our work to which we are
attached in a legal situation. One solution could be the creation of a
cooperative company managed by the workers.
Come meet us, come support us: every day, between 10am and 6pm, at 32
rue Feydeau, Paris 2nd
