regarding the Law on Amendments to the Animal Protection Law, which
entered into force on August 2, 2024. ---- The amendment numbered 7527,
which was accepted by the Turkish state by a majority vote in the
parliament on August 2, has brought to light the most naked form of
speciesist domination, along with the fascist and authoritarian method
against animals. ---- While the previous law implemented the
"neuter-vaccinate-let live in place" method; with the new law and
regulation, all dogs living on the streets will be isolated in prisons
called "shelters"; starting with dogs that are victims of breeding, all
dogs will be slaughtered.

After the law was approved by the state; along with the propaganda of
hatred and violence against animals on social media, violence against
animals living on the streets and the people who care for them has
increased, while at the same time, violence and massacres against
animals in municipality-controlled shelters continue to increase.

With the enactment of the law, thousands of dogs and cats were
slaughtered in shelters, and violence and massacres against animals
continued to increase day by day. In fact, in recent months, with the
power of the massacre law and these hateful policies, an elderly woman's
house in Ankara was torched by unknown perpetrators, Ülker Güleryüz and
the dogs under her care were burned to death. In Izmir, Sevket Yerdesen
was attacked and killed by his neighbor because he was looking after a
dog in his house.

With this law, the state not only harms animals physically and
psychologically; it also aims to destroy the solidarity and togetherness
of human and non-human creatures. At the same time, this massacre
enriches some people with shelters to be established to imprison animals
and tenders opened for drugs used to kill them. The state, which sees
animals as a commodity, legitimizes exploitation and establishing
authority over animals by shaping society with its own media channels.

Since this massacre law was brought to the agenda; we have resorted to
every method to defend the lives of animals and to stop the oppression
that the state imposes on humans and non-human beings. Despite all this,
the state does not step back and continues the massacres.

For this reason, we are starting a hunger strike in Istanbul, Izmir and
Eskisehir.

We call on you to support this action and stand against state oppression:

* Organize demonstrations in front of Turkish consulates,

* Conduct propaganda against Turkish tourism,

* Boycott products originating from Türkiye,

* Spread this call in your own country, cities and collectives.

To vegans, anarchists, and all revolutionaries who reject all forms of
domination:
This is not just a hunger strike.
This is a knife of resistance stuck in the veins of the system.
This is not just a body.
This is a collective will to revenge domination, passed down from
generation to generation.

And we are walking on this order.

We are not sparks, we are fire. We are not ashes, we are rebellion and
we are not coming now, we were here, we will continue to be.
