🇫🇷 Salut à Toots ! Cette semaine, le Toots accueille une série d'hommages aux géants du jazz. Ce n'était pas fait exprès, mais on ne va pas s'en plaindre ! La jam de mercredi sera ouverte par Peter Hertmans et, hasard du calendrier, cela tombe le jour où John Coltrane aurait eu 100 ans ! L'ouverture sera donc consacrée aux compositions du maître, et les jammeurs ne doivent pas hésiter à s'attaquer à Giant Steps, Mr PC, Naima et autre Equinox pour rester dans le thème. Jeudi, en l'absence de notre directeur artistique qui prend quelques jours off, Adinda Hertmans sera accompagnée du génial Wajdi Riahi pour l'apéro du jeudi, toujours gratuit, pour démarrer la soirée avec les meilleurs standards. On enchaîne ensuite avec notre premier concert des Harmonica Days, en hommage à Toots bien entendu. C'est Olivier Van der Bauwede qui ouvre le bal : le jeune Belge est notre valeur la plus sûre sur l'instrument qui a fait la gloire du jazz bruxellois, une star internationale, et c'est l'occasion de le découvrir ou de le redécouvrir. Le lendemain, vendredi, nous accueillons pour la troisième fois déjà un harmoniciste : Laurent Maur. Le Français fait partie des tout grands de l'instrument et nous présente cette fois-ci son projet Soundscape, où l'harmonica s'électrifie pour une nouvelle expérience sonore à ne pas manquer. La late jam avec le pianiste Pierre de Surgères permettra de prolonger le plaisir. Pour clôturer notre mini festival en apothéose, c'est une pointure mondiale de l'harmonica qui sera pour la première fois dans notre club. Protégé de la référence Grégoire Maret, récompensé à de multiples reprises et ayant joué dans les plus prestigieuses salles de New York où il s'est fait un nom, Yotam Ben-Or vient rarement par chez nous, et c'est l'occasion de découvrir ce très grand talent internationalement reconnu. Pour continuer la soirée, c'est Echt, groupe mondialement acclamé, qui nous fait le plaisir de venir ouvrir la première jam funk de notre club — nouveau rendez-vous mensuel — en rendant hommage aux Meters, référence du genre. Ça va déménager jusque tard dans la nuit ce samedi. Et enfin, pour finir la semaine et suite à une annulation de dernière minute, Joachim Caffonnette s'entoure de Géraud Portal et Marek Patrman pour rendre hommage à son héros Bill Evans, à 16h et 19h30 ! Deux fois plus de chances donc, à quelques jours de la projection du biopic sur le pianiste au festival du film de Gand : une bonne mise en bouche pour ceux qui aiment ce style à part, qui a influencé tant de musiciens. | 🇳🇱 Hallo Toots! Deze week verwelkomt Toots een reeks eerbetonen aan de reuzen van de jazz. Het was niet zo gepland, maar we gaan er zeker niet over klagen! De jamsessie van woensdag wordt geopend door Peter Hertmans en, toevallig genoeg, valt dit op de dag waarop John Coltrane 100 jaar zou zijn geworden! De opening zal dus gewijd zijn aan de composities van de meester, en jammers mogen gerust Giant Steps, Mr PC, Naima en ook Equinox aanpakken om in thema te blijven. Op donderdag, bij afwezigheid van onze artistiek directeur die enkele dagen vrij neemt, wordt Adinda Hertmans vergezeld door de geniale Wajdi Riahi voor het donderdagaperitief, nog steeds gratis, om de avond te openen met de beste standards. Daarna gaan we verder met ons eerste concert van de Harmonica Days, uiteraard als eerbetoon aan Toots. De Fransman behoort tot de absolute top van het instrument en stelt deze keer zijn project Soundscape voor, waarbij de harmonica elektrisch wordt voor een nieuwe geluidservaring die je niet mag missen. De late jam met pianist Pierre de Surgères zal het plezier verlengen. Om ons minifestival in schoonheid af te sluiten, verwelkomen we voor het eerst een wereldtopper op de harmonica in onze club. Beschermeling van referentiefiguur Grégoire Maret, meermaals bekroond, en met optredens in de meest prestigieuze zalen van New York waar hij naam maakte, komt Yotam Ben-Or zelden bij ons langs — een unieke kans om dit internationaal erkende talent te ontdekken. Om de avond verder te zetten, is het Echt, een wereldwijd geprezen band, die met veel plezier de allereerste funkjam van onze club opent — een nieuwe maandelijkse afspraak — met een eerbetoon aan The Meters, referentie in het genre. Het zal er tot laat in de nacht flink aan toegaan deze zaterdag. En tot slot, om de week af te sluiten, en na een last-minute annulering, brengt Joachim Caffonnette samen met Géraud Portal en Marek Patrman een eerbetoon aan zijn held Bill Evans, om 16u en 19u30! Dubbele kans dus, enkele dagen voor de vertoning van de biopic over de pianist op het Filmfestival van Gent — een mooie voorproever voor wie houdt van deze aparte stijl die zoveel muzikanten heeft beïnvloed. | 🇬🇧 Hi Toots! On Thursday, in the absence of our artistic director who's taking a few days off, Adinda Hertmans will be joined by the brilliant Wajdi Riahi for the Thursday aperitif, still free, to kick off the evening with the best standards. We'll then move straight into our first Harmonica Days concert, in tribute to Toots of course. Olivier Van der Bauwede opens the bill: the young Belgian is our safest bet on the instrument that made Brussels jazz famous worldwide, and this is a great chance to discover or rediscover him. The following day, Friday, we welcome for the third time already a harmonica player: Laurent Maur. The Frenchman is among the true greats of the instrument and this time presents his Soundscape project, where the harmonica goes electric for a new sonic experience not to be missed. The late jam with pianist Pierre de Surgères will extend the pleasure. To close our mini festival in style, we're welcoming a world-class harmonica virtuoso to our club for the very first time. To continue the evening, Echt, a world-acclaimed band, will do us the honour of opening our club's very first funk jam — a new monthly event — paying tribute to The Meters, a reference of the genre. It's going to get wild well into the night this Saturday. And finally, to wrap up the week, and following a last-minute cancellation, Joachim Caffonnette teams up with Géraud Portal and Marek Patrman to pay tribute to his hero Bill Evans, at 4pm and 7:30pm! Twice the chance, then, just days before the screening of the biopic about the pianist at the Ghent Film Festival — a great appetiser for those who love this unique style that has influenced so many musicians. |
