It’s Tuesday, Sept. 22 The UN General Assembly in New York has begun in earnest – with a lot of nations and not a whole lot of unity as wars rage on around the world. Turkey’s Erdogan has already called for abolishing the veto system. But for Ukraine, the highlight – apart from charging Russia over blocking aid to Oleshky – is likely to be the upcoming Zelensky-Trump meeting. While it’s unclear what will come out of it, Zelensky already met France’s Macron to discuss interceptor and radar deals and a potential energy truce, as Trump proposed earlier. Zelensky also reportedly met the CIA’s Ratcliffe for hushed talks while in Ireland, with no details revealed – an episode that might be of some significance considering Ratcliffe’s recent trip to Moscow and earlier rumors of him taking over the mediation efforts. And in New York, Ukraine’s top diplomat also accused Minsk of increasingly aiding Russia’s drone strikes, just hours after opposition leader Tsikhanouskaya warned about Trump’s upcoming potash deal with Minsk’s Lukashenko.
