PUBLICATIONS

These books can be ordered from your usual bookseller or from libertarian bookstores... but not
from CIRA

. COMIC BOOK. Llibertat recounts the story of the Sabaté brothers (Quico and Pep) and their companions in Catalonia from the 1920s to the early 1960s. Having participated alongside the CNT in the Revolution and the fight against fascism, they found themselves in exile in France. From 1939 onward, they refused to admit defeat and waged a guerrilla war: expropriations, prisoner escapes, punitive expeditions... The authors skillfully used somber drawings to depict the era, as well as sharp, dynamic lines for the action scenes.
Llibertat: jusqu'au dernier (Libertarianism: Until the Last), illustrated by Yannick Orveillon, colors by Robin Millet, script by Hervé Kerros. Marabulles, 2026. 224 pages. EUR26.99.

ALBERT CAMUS. Albert Camus's Libertarian Writings were first published in 2008 by Égrégores, the publishing house of our dear friend Claire Auzias (1951-2024). Three reprints followed, the last two by Indigène éditions. Now, Les Belles Lettres is offering a new edition. Lou Marin has compiled texts by Camus published in the anarchist press, as well as correspondence with activists. In a lengthy preface, Marin demonstrates that Camus's ties with anarchists were fraternal and enabled him to develop a "libertarian socialism."
Libertarian Writings: 1948-1960 by Albert Camus; preface by Alexis Lager; edited and introduced by Lou Marin. Les Belles Lettres, 2026. 350 pages. (Le Gout des Idées; 105). 17 euros.

GEORGES DARIEN. In 1899, the anarchist writer Georges Darien (1862-1921) and the English freethinker Joseph McCabe jointly published a pamphlet entitled *Can We Disarm?* In it, they addressed the geopolitical situation of the time, which remains relevant today. They dismantled superficial pacifist rhetoric and demonstrated how states fuel an endless arms race. *Can We Disarm?*
(1899): a pamphlet still relevant today by Georges Darien and Joseph McCabe. Classiques Garnier, 2026. 371 pages. (19th Century Library; 127). Bilingual French-English. 45 euros.

THE DAUDET AFFAIR. On November 24, 1923, fifteen-year-old Philippe Daudet (Flip) was found dead in a Parisian taxi, a pistol beside him. Philippe was the son of the royalist activist Léon Daudet. Shortly before his death, Philippe, disagreeing with his father's ideas, ran away and met anarchist activists, notably Georges Vidal. Léon Daudet rejects the suicide theory and accuses the police. In this novel based on thorough research, Jean-Jacques Salgon retraces Philippe Daudet's steps and reconstructs his journey, both geographically and mentally.
Flip by Jean-Jacques Salgon. Verdier, 2026. 126 pages. EUR17.50.

ECOLOGY. In this short essay, drawing on his activist experience, the author places ecological thought at the heart of his reflection, because, for him, it is revolutionary by nature and allows for the connection of all contemporary struggles. It entails a radical break with the economic and social order, by calling into question in its entirety the authoritarian and capitalist principles and mechanisms that impose both domination and dispossession. Breaking free from these patterns requires becoming aware of the world and its limitations in order to find our place within it through connection and empathy.
Revolutionary Ecology by Nature by Nicolas Bonanni. Le Monde à l'envers, 2025. 144 pages. 8 euros.

FONCETTE. Christian Hongrois, an ethnologist, recounts the untold story of Foncette Gaultier (1871-1956). This anarchist activist was close to Sébastien Faure and later to Mauricius. She helped raise Sidonie, the daughter of Auguste Vaillant, who was guillotined in 1894. A pacifist, she received a suspended prison sentence in 1918. In the 1930s, she developed a close bond with a young boy in the care of the state, Marcel Hongrois, the author's father. Influenced by Foncette's libertarian ideas, Marcel Hongrois later became a member of the Resistance in the Côte-d'Or region and then an anti-OAS activist in Algeria.
Foncette: Anarchist and Anti-Patriot of the "New Times," Paris-Morvan-Berry (1871-1956) by Christian Hongrois. Librinova, 2026. 437 pages. EUR23.90.

IVAN ILLICH. Despite their initial widespread acclaim, the writings of Ivan Illich (1926-2002) remain relatively unknown today. This author was a critic of industrial society, a nomadic teacher, and an iconoclastic theologian. His works explore education, conviviality, work, and water management. L'échappée publishers have compiled two books of interviews Illich gave to Canadian journalist David Cayley in the 1990s into a single volume. This provides a good introduction to Illich's thought, a critique ahead of its time of the digitization of the world. *
The Corruption of the Best Produces the Worst: Interviews with Ivan Illich by David Cayley*. L'échappée, 2026. 512 pages. EUR24.

MILITARIZATION. Emmanuel Macron has launched a "war economy" policy. It does not simply consist of producing more weapons. This is a societal project that must affect the entire population. Based on a careful reading of official documents, this book warns of the dangers of the militarization of our lives and offers avenues for action to halt the race to war. The author, Loïc Fournil, is active in several anti-militarist organizations. *
War Economy: Their Roadmap and Ours* by Loïc Fournil. Le Monde à l'envers, 2026. 72 pages. 5 euros.

ZIONISM. Pierre Stambul is one of the founders and spokespeople for the French Jewish Union for Peace (UJFP). In his books and lectures, he denounces the misdeeds of Israeli settlers and soldiers against the Palestinian people. In this new work, he addresses Jews. For him, Judaism has never been territorial. Faced with persecution and anti-Semitism, some have sought to build an ethnically pure state. But this state has become the result of colonial practices and ethnic cleansing. For him, Israeli Jews must relinquish their exclusive right to the land and become normal human beings again; they must become Jewish again.
The Pariah and the Colonist: Another History of Antisemitism by Pierre Stambul. Acratie, 2026. 130 pages. 15 euros.

TRANS IDENTITIES. This book takes a libertarian look at current controversies surrounding the question of identities. Trans people have been part of humanity since its origins. Yet, reactionary circles vilify them. The trans issue has an influence on both feminists and libertarians.
Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Trans? by Karine Snepmac. Éditions du Monde libertaire, 2026. 224 pages. (Here and Now). 10 euros.

HELLO
NOËL GODIN. Better known as "The Pie-Thrower," aka Georges Le Gloupier (Gloup! Gloup!), Noël Godin died in Brussels on August 23, 2026. This anarchist humorist, born in 1945 in Liège, Belgium, threw cream pies at self-important and ridiculous figures. He pieed Marguerite Duras, Bernard-Henri Lévy (at least eight times), Jean-Pierre Chevènement, Nicolas Sarkozy, Patrick Bruel, and others. For these pieings, he was sometimes accompanied by accomplices and imitators. A film critic, Noël Godin often wrote fake reviews
of imaginary films. He also wrote literary columns for Siné Hebdo. But his most remarkable work is a large anthology (800 pages) of subversive texts in which anarchists feature prominently. This Anthology of Uncompromising Subversion was published in 1988. It has been reprinted several times, most recently by Noir et Blanc in 2026.
