Saturday, September 26 at 7:00 PM at the anarchist space at Via Vettore Fausto 3 - Rome (Garbatella) - September 26, 1970, night: Gianni Aricò, Annelise Borth (Mucki), Angelo Casile, Franco Scordo, and Luigi Lo Celso. These five anarchist comrades from the "Baracca" group in Reggio Calabria were traveling to Rome in a Mini Minor-a very small car typical of the era. They had two tasks to complete: delivering a dossier to the comrades at the Bakunin circle-the result of months of work and dangerous research-regarding fascist involvement in the spontaneous uprising in Reggio Calabria (a revolt over the city's status as regional capital that fascists sought to hijack for electoral gain and dirty power games). They were carrying explosive photographs and documents, as Angelo himself had announced by phone just days earlier. This evidence implicated fascists colluding with the police and showed Almirante himself in the public square alongside MSI ringleaders and 'Ndrangheta figures like Ciccio Franco. There was also evidence and testimony regarding the fascist attack on the *Freccia del Sud* train on July 22-an event that had caused six deaths and seventy-seven injuries but was still officially classified as an accident blamed on the train drivers. Near Ferentino, a semi-trailer truck caused their car to crash, resulting in the immediate death of four comrades; Annelise (Mucki)-Angelo's wife, whom he had recently married and who was pregnant-would die on October 17. The dossier vanished after the first person to arrive at the scene of the accident was Commander Crescenzio Mezzina of the Frosinone Highway Police-a man linked to Junio Valerio Borghese's fascists and under investigation for the attempted coup, just like the Aiello brothers (the truck drivers involved). The next item on the agenda was the protest against Nixon scheduled for the following day.
September 26, 2026:
Fifty-six years later, we continue to remember and to hold the State accountable for yet another massacre-one more piece of the "Strategy of Tension" that began with the State-perpetrated massacre of December 12, 1969.
Join us at 7:00 PM at our space at Via Vettor Fausto 3, Rome.
