Zelensky has gone to Norway to talk with Trump’s envoys.
In a somewhat surprising announcement, Norway said it is hosting talks on Ukraine between Zelensky and Witkoff ahead of the latter’s rumored trip to Moscow, with Finland’s Stubb and Norway’s Støre also taking part, while Kushner will supposedly join online.
The parties said the talks are a continuation of what was discussed in Miami two weeks ago. The urgency facing Ukraine suggests why the talks are taking place – Zelensky has talked to Rubio about the fiasco while complaining about Trump’s delay in delivering Patriots, warning that Kyiv has exhausted its stockpiles in the face of Russia’s onslaught and that those already paid for by Europe are not making their way to Ukraine because of Washington. In response, Zelensky has backed down further and offered a 30-day energy truce: Kyiv won’t hit refineries, but Washington will provide Ukraine with the Patriots needed to defend its power grid.
And across Ukraine, Russia’s escalated attacks are increasingly visible. The Kyiv-Odesa highway was struck just outside Kyiv, while the wider attack also killed others nationwide.
As a cherry on top, the Trump administration is also eyeing the legalization of shadow fleets, conveniently ignoring the fact that this tactic was championed by Iran before Russia adopted similar methods. Art of the deal, truly.
