The Kremlin leader celebrates his 74th birthday today, 26 years after becoming Russia’s president in 2000 (the prime-ministership still counts), and 20 years after journalist Politkovskaya’s murder in Moscow.
Feeling old yet?
And his birthday gift to Ukraine is also a bloody one – 70 missiles hit across the country and sent a residential building crumbling in Chernihiv’s Pryluky, while leaving another missile unexploded among Kyiv’s homes. At the same time, Russia’s war deaths also climbed to 1.55 million. With the world still watching over a potential plague outbreak in Siberia and contaminated dog vaccines killing over 100 canines in Russia, we gotta say it’s quite a job the 74-year-old man did for his country.
Meanwhile, Russia’s jet drones reportedly spiked to 3,500 in September, while a defense analyst cautioned that the new AI turrets are more like a last defense. At least the jet-powered drones are somehow decreasing this October – though blackouts have also officially begun in Ukraine ahead of winter.
