US, Seattle, Media, Anarchists stage protest against police brutality

Anti-police-brutality demonstrators staged noisy protests in Seattle on Friday. ---- A
protester with a painted face, calling himself ?Teal Crayon,? holds a photo of carver John
T. Williams as he talks with a Seattle police officer in Cal Anderson Park.
http://seattletimes.com/ABPub/zoom/html/2020570196.html ---- A group of self-proclaimed
anarchists staged a noisy but otherwise orderly protest Friday against police brutality,
marching from Seattle?s Cal Anderson Park through downtown and back up to Capitol Hill.
--- With dozens of police riding bicycles alongside or trailing behind in cruisers and
vans, the 30 or so protesters walked and rode bikes. Wearing scarves, masks and paint on
their faces, they chanted against police. ---- Although the group walked in the streets
and disrupted traffic at times, police did not move in on them.

A similar gathering at City Hall Park drew an estimated three dozen protesters to what
organizers called the ?March 15th International Day Against Police Brutality.?

There were no arrests, according to Seattle Police Department spokesman Jeff Kappel.

One protester, who asked not to be named, said the police ?treat us like terrorists, and
we?re not.?

She also said that she doesn?t believe she should have to obey laws.

The demonstrators did, however, move politely and quickly out of the way for an ambulance
that turned onto Pine Street with its siren blaring.

(en) US, Seattle, GREY COAST ANARCHIST NEWS*: Decolonize the New World 2012

CALL TO ACTION ? Columbus Day marks the 520 year anniversary of the genocidal and ecocidal
project of Empire building and colonial expansion that began with the conquistador
invasion of this continent and continues to this day through the daily violence and
exploitation of global capitalism. ---- It also marks the 20 year anniversary of the first
American Black Bloc which disrupted the 1992 Columbus Day Parade in San Francisco?s North
Beach neighborhood. ---- This year during columbus day weekend, a West Coast
Anti-Colonial, Anti-Capitalist convergence is being organized in San Francisco: ----
http://decolonizethenewworld.noblogs.org/sat-oct-6/ ---- In Solidarity with this effort,
we are calling for friends and comrades to gather at 2pm Saturday, October 6 for an
Anti-Colonial, Anti-Capitalist march on the heart of Seattle?s shopping/financial
district, including the Mexican and Canadian Consulates that reside within our city.

We draw inspiration from the countless struggles of indigenous resistance to capitalist
projects of development and expansion: from the mountains of Black Mesa, where elders
fiercely protect their way of life in the shadow of a coal mine, to the rebel autonomous
municipality of Ch?ran in Michoac?n, M?xico where both the repressive forces of the state
and the drug cartels have been expelled while loggers infringing upon indigenous territory
have been chased off communal lands, to the far north of Canada where indigenous peoples
block roads and disrupt plans for expanding resource extraction while students and
radicals in Montreal riot outside the gates of the Plan du Nord summit. These brave
fighters motivate us to spread the fires of resistance in the ongoing struggles against
colonialism and capitalism.

We will honor the memories of all those who fought back and resisted the onslaught of
empire over the past five centuries by unleashing the power of our own resistance in the
various hearts of capitalism on the West Coast. We are proud to stand in solidarity with
others whose fierce struggles continue to hold off the machinery of domination and
exploitation.

It is also fitting that October 7 marks the 11 year anniversary of the US invasion of
Afghanistan, another brutal example of colonial domination?s recent manifestations. We
invite all those who stand in opposition to Empire and in solidarity with the struggles of
the Afghan people to join us on this march.

The Decolonize the New World 2012: Anti-Colonial, Anti-Capitalist Action will gather at
Westlake Center Park for a rally at 2pm and the march will begin at 3pm sharp. Stay tuned
for additional details and ways to get involved.

Please Invite Friends, Family, Lovers & Revolutionaries!

This action, to take place in Seattle, is in Solidarity with Decolonize the New World
2012: West Coast Anti-Colonial, Anti-Capitalist Convergence in San Francisco, CA. during
Indigenous Peoples Day (columbus day) weekend. The convergence is being called for by
Decolonize and Anti-Capitalist comrades in the Pacific Northwest and Bay Area. Spread the
Word!!!

* Grey Coast Anarchist News (greycoast.wordpress.com) is a Northwest anarchist resources
site. The focus is on spaces and groups that can be connected with, for interconnecting
our struggles bio-regionally. It will take some time to develop the links, similar to
Infoshop.org?s ?Anarchist Neighborhood? wiki project, but you can help by sending anything
relevant. We?ll include links to local anarchist projects in as many places we can link
to, as well as resources and ways to find out what?s going on in the Northwest. Check out

(en) US, Seattle, Pugetsound anarchists Call for Coordinated Action August 24-31: Solidarity with Grand Jury Resisters

Grand juries and the repression surrounding them are focused specifically on isolation in
an attempt to strike fear into the hearts of anarchists and all those associated with
them. Whether you are close to those involved in the recent wave of Pacific Northwest
anarchist repression or not, its impact has most likely touched your region. ---- In an
attempt to counter that fear and isolation the days of August 24th to August 31st are
being called as a week of solidarity with anarchists in the Pacific Northwest. Lets turn
that fear back toward our common enemies and drive the impact of their repression into
expressions of solidarity. Consider acting in ways that communicate the passion for
freedom that those in the Northwest have continued to express by their refusal to
cooperate with the State's witch hunt.

Remember that the next grand jury hearing is on Thursday August 30th at the Federal
Courthouse in downtown Seattle. If you live in the area, please come to the Courthouse on
700 Stewart St. at 12noon for a demonstration outside. If you live outside the area,
consider planning a solidarity demonstration in your city or an event about grand jury
resistance.

May their attempts at repression only make our aim stronger!
