Greece, Blockupy International - Statement

Another statement on Greece... And just to pre-announce, that we again plan - in the frame of this blockupy mobilisation at 18.3.15 in Frankfurt - to be present on the streets with our voices and banners for freedom of movement and against Frontex and all Migration Control as part of the struggle against the EU Crisis regime.
Best,
hagen

Dear friends,
the Blockupy coalition in Germany wrote a statement in the end of last week in regards to the struggles in Greece – taking up the “call for victory” by solidarity for all, we also had a little action&/rally at the old ECB building in the centre of Frankfurt on Sunday.
You can find the picture here: http://blockupy.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/img_0248.jpg; you can find the Blockupy statement referring to the elections in Greece: “The chance of upraise turns up from the streets” here: http://blockupy.org/en/4539/blockupy-referring-to-the-elections-in-greece-the-chance-of-upraise-turns-up-from-the-street/ or attached.

Blockupy referring to the elections in Greece:
The chance of upraise turns up from the street
On January the 25th there will be elections in Greece.  A left majority and a new government braking with the dictation of austerity from Berlin and Brussels appear within reach. For millions of people who lost their employment, their health care and their income, this gives cause for hope. And that applies not only for Greece but well beyond. Similar processes of self-organisation are in progress in Spain, and a break with the iniquitous austerity policy now seems possible.
The threats and extortions against the electorate have already begun – especially also from Germany, from Berlin and Frankfurt. “Berlin is warning Athens of the consequences from a renunciation from austerity” – the headlines are revealing not only an authoritarian and antidemocratic attitude, but also the actual purpose of the policy of crisis of the Federal Government and the Troika: the strengthening of the European competitiveness in the capitalistic world-market for the global competition of location – no matter for what social cost.
In this situation it is the task of all left and emancipatory forces and movements to reject the nationalistic propaganda, and to unmistakably execute the break with the German crisis policy practically here. Blockupy therefore counters the panic campaign of the political leaders and the civil press ahead of the election in Greece, and supports the Greek comrades in their struggle against impoverishment-policies and indebtedness, against nationalism and racism. Together with the movements in whole Europe we will defy the right of the people to break with the policy of crisis. The election in Greece is a signal of hope.
But the rise of Syriza cannot be understood without the multifaceted approaches towards self-organisation of the common beyond market and state, not without the massive social fights which have been carried out in Greece the last years. We are remembering for example the strike in the steel industry lasting for months, the takeover of the Vio.Me-factory, the battle against the closure of the public broadcasting ERT. We are remembering the workers of the electricity plant who prevented that the destitute people are cut of electricity, the clinics of solidarity, which gratuitous treated the many who don´t have health insurance anymore, the “newspaper of editors”, founded by dismissed journalists, and the by now over a year lasting fighting of 595 charladies of the Ministry of Finance for their reemployment.
The chance of upraise – however the election results – is coming from the street, from the strength and the autonomy of the non-parliament movements and networks, from the initiative of the people, who don´t want to be just victims of the crisis policies, but to take their history in their own hands. The capitalism of crisis and it´s constraints aren´t easily deselected. Beyond the simple protest against the Troika´s policy of impoverishment, against the authoritarian and neoliberal restructuring of the EU it is more about the real enforcement of actually different ratios. We have to do everything ourselves!
That applies transnational, therefore also in Germany. Everybody who has enough of Hartz IV, benefits with 67years of age, mini-jobs and low wages, of dictation in the company, the Foreigner´s Registration Office or the Jobcentre, everybody who is fed up with the dictation of overtime, exploitative work and missing daycare facilities we are calling: Become active these months, make a statement together with us against the EU policy of crisis, against any form of nationalism and racism.
The most of us cannot vote at the 25th of January in Greece, but nevertheless we will raise our voice: at the 18th of March within the Blockupy-protest in the Streets of Frankfurt. There together we are showing: Also in Germany the time of party truce is coming to an end.
Let´s be at liberty, let´s take off latest March the 18th and let us blockade the solemn opening of the new headquarter of the European Central Bank, which as part of the Troika assists in organising the policy of blackmail and imp
overishment in Greece and whole Europe. Here too: you have to do it all yourself!

(en) Italy, Statement on the arrest of the anarchist comrades Maximum Edging and Daniela Battistii

We do not enter in the magician's hat ---- Once again, some anarchists were arrested on
charges delusional, a fact that is repeated periodically. Now in the nation's prisons is
over Maximum Edging and his partner Daniela Battisti is under house arrest. ---- The
allegations are ridiculous, the name given to the operation of police stench of fascism,
"Ixodidae" which means brand is exemplary and does not hide the symbolic use of a police
operation aimed at discriminating against those arrested and their role in social
struggles , dall'antifascismo opposition to the construction of TAV and solidarity
expressed and demonstrated the movement in Val Susa. ---- Granted the prominence media
operation, waved as solvers for the success of the investigation an impressive body
control telephone, mail and GPS, which demonstrate a social control by etiolate the old
KGB, to get to a crime of association alone, even without objective evidence against the
accused, is risking years in prison.

These arrests are the confirmation of a trend of social control to prevent any role in the
near future taken by the revolutionary movement, press to support the operation of Digos,
primarily that of the Democratic Party, have turned to pure criminalization of activities
and behaviors can not be controlled , and then to hold up as illegal and criminalize the
most classic patterns of regime propaganda, to try to remove every possible support and
sharing the forms of opposition radicals, anarchists and the revolutionary movement, to
hunt in jail dissent to " the fury of the people. "

We libertarians do not fall into this trap, we continue to affirm our unwillingness to
compromise political and social system based on environmental destruction and social
butchery imposed by the dictatorship of capitalist accumulation, a libertarian communist
society and where are the workers, the working class to choose their own destiny and not
the boards of directors of companies and their servants of the state.

Those arrested our human and political solidarity, we are tired of seeing comrades to be
pulled out of the hat of the magicians of the state and their lives thrown to the wind to
revive the show in front of an audience in the hands of the magicians of a power system
that more and more uses repressive methods against any practice of dissent that is outside
and against the logic of capitalist domination.

(en) Britain, Anarchist Federation Organise! #78 - Statement of international solidarity with those in Cuba: You Are Not Alone

The following statement was issued following the April 2011 Cuban Com munist Party
Congress and so is over a year old. Nevertheless, the sentiments expressed should be
supported, whilst we have no illusions in the possibility of censors or policemen changing
their minds, as might be implied in the statement. Even today there is still illusion, and
even among some libertarians, in the Cuban regime. Thus whilst the International
Solidarity Commission of the Industrial Workers of the World signed the statement, an
article appeared in the July 2011 issue of the IWW paper Industrial Worker denouncing the
statement and the attempt to set up an IWW branch in Cuba, defending
the regime and calling on the IWW to support the creation of workers? states!!

Statement of international
solidarity with those in Cuba

The Communist Party of Cuba's VI
Congress has just closed with an en-
dorsement of the liberal reforms (?to
each according to his labors?) prom-
ised in the realm of the economy:
but along with these come cuts in
social services and an increased pres-
ence for military and for technocrats
in the machinery of government,
with a reduction in the presence of
intellectuals and workers.

In terms of rhetoric and deeds alike,
efficiency, control and discipline re-
place equality, solidarity and partner-
ship. Against this backdrop we have
indications of a crackdown in the
cultural realm, heralding yet another
set-back to Cubans' exercise of their
fundamental freedoms. Performing
artists find their names blackened
by cultural officials-turned-censors
engaged in frantic campaigns, the
length and breadth of the country
peddling false rumors and spurious
accusations.

A prestigious Cultural Theory Center
finds its facilities and equipment
being sabotaged again by ?thieves?
who forget to take anything and
whom the authorities cannot seem
to identify and punish. Poets and
community activists are visited
by police personnel who threaten
to haul them before the courts as
?counter-revolutionaries? and to
leave them to the mercy of the ?peo-
ple's wrath?, thereby demonstrating
that said wrath is not ?of the people?
nor independent of the powers that
be who direct it.

Damage to social property, defama-
tion and physical and psychological
bullying (and violence) are not only
offenses punishable under legal
codes the world over ? Cuba includ-
ed ? they are also considered acts
of State Terrorism. For decades, the
Cuban people gave their best efforts
to their children and to the world
in order to build up a fairer country
with universal and high quality cul-
ture, health and education despite
the irrational and begrudging bu-
reaucracy that always depicted the
people's gains as its own creations.
Are the repressiveness and lying of
such ?apprentice Stalins? to go down
in History as the features by which
the Cuban process is to be remem-
bered, rather than the day to day
heroism of the Cuban people? This is
not justice.

But if we are to ensure that this is
not the case, then, from below and
from the left, we must banish the
silence and the self-censorship that
underpin the impunity of the cen-
sors, that we should never open our-
selves up to the charge that we are
allegedly ?playing into the enemy's
hands.? The people who today are
finding their integrity and their jobs
threatened by these actions of the
Cuban authorities are deserving of
our utter respect, for we have seen
them at close quarters in a range of
different times and circumstances.
They are not, as the official propa-
ganda line has it, hirelings of the
CIA, as they just about subsist on
the same dismal income as the vast
majority of the Cuban people. When
they go on trips, they spend their
meager savings on publicizing their
humanistic creations and on the
purchase of the materials they need
in order to carry on with their efforts
on behalf of a more cultivated coun-
try with greater freedom. Whatever
help they get from us (in the shape
of some DVD, art equipment or the
proceeds of some modest fund-
raiser) represents solidarity from us
male and female workers, artists and
students who, in our own countries,
resist the neo-liberal, authoritarian
policies of the capitalists and their
gendarmes in Seattle, Mexico City,
Paris, Caracas, San Francisco and
Buenos Aires.

What a contrast between our com-
rades and the bureaucrats comfort-
ably traveling the world in Solidarity
Drives, paid for with the Cuban peo-
ple's money, bureaucrats who defect
to Miami at the earliest opportunity
and parade their repentance on TV
as ?freedom fighters?! What a con-
trast with certain ?friends of Cuba?
intellectuals who, naively or for hire,
mistake the ideals of the Revolution
for the policies of the Cuban state
and deny to our Cuban comrades the
very rights that they demand (and in-
deed, sometimes, enjoy) under their
own bourgeois democratic regimes!
The difference in quality, in terms
of handiwork and spirit, from those
?licensed reformists? who are ready
to treat every wheel and turn of the
Cuban regime with a fresh coat of
theoretical gloss and to indulge in
abstract (pseudo) critiques, as long
as this suits the powers that be.
Our Cuban comrades' only sin is that
they have the effrontery to con-
template (and change) their reality
without waiting for promises from
the Nanny State or Capital's siren
songs. They believe in a fuller life, in
a community where the unhindered
growth of each is the precondition
and measure of the unhindered
growth of all. Dialogue with and les-
sons learned from our other worldly
struggles, from piqueteros and from
zapatistas have broadened their
horizons and also allowed us to learn
from their historical record of mis-
takes and popular resistance. They
represent the liveliest, most splendid
bequest of the Cuban Revolution
which refuses to perish despite the
canker of bureaucracy. They are (in
body and soul) young marxists, anar-
chists, libertarian socialists, followers
of Marti, humanists, feminists, ecolo-
gists, communitarians but, above
and beyond any such labels and de-
scriptions, they are decent folk who
have risked their lives in the service
of others. For which reason we shall
not not allow them to stand alone.
We know that the forces of domina-
tion are mighty, that they control the
billy-clubs and cyberspace, punish-
ment and reward, the intimidated
and the paid retainers. But we pos-
sess the sense of shame and hope
against which ? as popular anti-im-
perialist rebellions around the globe
can testify ? despotic power cannot
stand. Hopefully there may, in the
minds of the censor and the police-
man, be some lingering memory of
the original commitment given to
the Cuban people that hoisted them
into power: but, if not, we are ready
to launch the mightiest solidarity
campaign using every resource avail-
able to the law and to progressive
public opinion worldwide.
