On Sunday 7 September, local fascist group ‘Sauvons Calais’ will once
again try to hold a demonstration ‘against immigration’ in Calais,
bringing in hardcore neo-nazis from across France. A number of
high-profile fascists have already confirmed their presence including
Thomas Joly (secrétaire général du Parti de la France), Yvan Benedetti
(conseiller municipal de Venissieux and former-member of the now banned
organization L’Œuvre française), and Richard Roudier (of Réseau
Identités). No doubt there will also be neonazi gangs that will arrive
before and stay for more time after the demo to attack vulnerable people
in the streets.

There is no place for fascists in Calais. We will resist this neo-nazi
rally. We will resist the recent wave of fascist street attacks. But with
hundreds of neonazis arriving, we cannot do this alone. We call on
antifascists from across France, and across Europe, to join us for a
gathering of solidarity through the weekend of 5-7 September.

We need your support to shut down Sauvons Calais’ demo. We need your
support to help defend homes and meeting places under attack. We also want to invite musicians, film-makers, and others to come and join us to make an international festival of resistance! From 1940 to 2014, French  people and immigrants from all over the world have repeatedly united to smash nazi scum. We want to celebrate this tradition with action, and also with events such as concerts, film-showings, discussions and more. We welcome all proposals and expressions of solidarity in the coming days.

FASCIST AGGRESSION OF A 15 YEARS OLD GIRL - Fiday 5th September

A 15 years old volunteer was assaulted by a 40 years old man outside her college, he hit her and she fell to the ground and then he kicked her again. He also made death threats if she goes to the demo on Sunday - the fascist demo / antifa counter-demo. The teenager was taken to hospital injuried and very shocked.
This is the last in a long string of attacks by fascists against activists and people who who help the migrants. In the worst incident two men tried to kidnap the spokewoman for Calais Ouerture Humanite' - the facebook group for those who support the migrants, born in opposition to the racist Sauvons Calais. She escaped only because some passer-byes intervened, badly bruised, she has left Calais and gone into hiding. She had alredy received death threats from the 'Sauvons Calais'.

MIGRANTS'  DEMONSTRATION AGAINST POLICE VIOLENCE -  Fiday 5th September

200 migrants demonstrate to demand an end to police violece

The migrants are organizing these demonstrations autonomously. All the different communities arecoming  together. There was another similar demo on Thursday 21st August (I am slightly disapponted though there were only 200 at the demo, when there are over 1500 migrants  in Calais!)

In the last weeks many of us had to face a lot of police violence. Some of us got broken hands and others broken legs and even some got hurt their heads. You can see that with your own eyes and you can hear of them how it happened.

In the next days the fascists will come to Calais to meet and demonstrate here. There is no shelter for us to be secure and to hide from them. We can not trust the police to protect us from them as we experienced already so much violence from them.

Migration is not a crime and each and everyone of us has reasons why we had to leave our countries and our families and why we are here now.

Europe is always talking about Human Rights and freedom but we can not find this here.

This is why we want to demonstrate and bring our demands on the streets.

Therefore we are happy to invite you to our demonstration on friday, the 5th of September 2014, starting at 3 p.m. at Quai de la Moselle, 62100 Calais, the food distribution place.

COURT APPEAL AGAINST THE EVICTION OF THE SQUAT GALLOO, OPENED BY NO BORDERS-  Fiday 5th September

The appeal was heard at the Tribunal of Boulogne, the verdict will be on the 19th September. The 12.000 m2 squat is housing some 200 migrant people, and more go there during the day, mingling with activists, local people, volunteers from associations etc. It is an amazing space where you can sleep too, bring your own tent as the house is full but there is plenty of space in the courtyard, everything else is in short supply. The nazis don't go near, cowards as they are, but who knows on Sunday!


MEETING BETWEEN ASSOCITIONS AND PREFECT - Fiday 5th September

- No evictions for the moment (posponed to date TBA)

- They are talking about opening a day centre for migrants but there will be no place where migrants can spend the night. To deny any form of accommodation centre is a government decision endorsed by the Interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve. The prefect is worried that  the migrants will squat the day centre. The asociations are saying that should not happen if migrants have a place where they are allowed to sleep undisturbed - that means there could be possibly some negotiation for a piece of land where people can camp, like a jungle that is tolerated, or a legal squat? 

-The women, children, underage, sick and other vulnerable people were mentioned. There are currently hundreds of women and unaccompnied minors sleeping out in the Calais jungles, some very young. There are little children sleeping out, with their mother and/or father. The women's shelter is full over the limit, and they are not taking any more women nor their children. 


MIGRANTS ASSAULT THE PORT - Wednesday 3rd September

100 managed to get in, sadly they were taken out again by police and port security, so none of them went to England on that occasion
