Friday October 13, almost three years to the day after the assassinationof Samuel Paty, a new teacher was murdered in his school, and threeother school staff injured. Nothing can excuse such a gesture. Nor doesanything authorize the vultures to feast on the dead to spread theirnauseating ideology. ---- This Friday, October 13, a 20-year-old man, aformer student of the establishment, entered the Gambetta-Carnot highschool in the town of Arras and murdered a teacher, Dominique Bernard, and injured two people. The Libertarian Communist Union demonstrates itsterror at an act of such violence, three years almost to the day afterthe assassination of Samuel Paty. The symbolism of such violence againsta teacher and in a school establishment cannot escape us. Our thoughtsgo first and foremost to the victim's loved ones, his colleagues, andthe students of the establishment. This assassination must be seen as the tragic consequence of thegovernment's increasingly discriminatory policy. In working-classneighborhoods, the police humiliate, injure and kill with completeimpunity. At school, pseudo-secularism serves as a pretext for theexclusion of Muslim students, and particularly young women, underarbitrary criteria.Anger stirred up by the State, taken over by the IslamistsThrough its racist laws and practices within the country, coupled withimperialist and colonialist policies abroad, the State fosters abreeding ground of anger from which Islamism takes advantage to advanceits criminal, reactionary and patriarchal ideology. In return, thepoliticians at the head of state use the emotion aroused by theterrorist murders to push their security and racist policies ever further. In addition to the populations of working-class neighborhoods caughtbetween state racism and the violence of Islamism, National Educationstaff are bearing the brunt of this double escalation. The destructionof public services, the permanent understaffing, the deterioration ofpremises and equipment increasingly accentuates the deprivation ofteachers and administration. Not content with being deprived of the means to carry out anemancipatory project, the School has even become an active supporter ofthe repressive system. Reports of children advocating terrorism haveincreased in recent years. Students have had to answer before the policeand the courts (traumatic episodes, even more so at this age) forcomments on which they were too young to have perspective. It is the job of the teaching staff to support children in theirconstruction, in a bond of trust and not of humiliation and sanction.Always more for the police... and less for public schoolsFaced with this situation, Darmanin and his henchmen cynically proposeonly to give ever more legal and material means to a police force whichonly knows how to repress and murder. Our social camp must more thanever fight this fascistic and repressive dynamic, as well as therecovery of the extreme right which has already begun. The response to this infernal circle can only come from a concrete andmerciless fight against the racism and imperialism of the French State,as well as through the reconquest of our public services (education butalso health or housing) built in the struggle and who have sufferedattacks from neo-liberalism for decades.Only social struggle will overcome state racism and religious extremism!UCL Anti-Racist Commissionhttps://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Arras-apres-l-horreur-le-deferlement-de-haine_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
