On the occasion of the release of Brick by brick, wall by wall, a
history of penal abolitionism written by Joël Charbit, Shaïn Morisse and
Gwenola Ricordeau published by Lux. We invite you on May 28 to a book
presentation evening at Pol'n. ---- Gwenola Ricordeau (associate
professor of criminal justice at California State University, Chico)
will present her work to us, then lead discussions and debates around
several themes: ---- The systemic oppressions that the police and
judicial systems maintain (racism, sexism, ableism, etc.);
Places of confinement that do not reveal their name, including forced
internments in psychiatric hospitals, the retention of exiles in the
CRAs and administrative detention in occupied Palestine;
How to escape from the punitive culture? What are the other forms of
justice and alternatives to the prison system?
Program:
- 6 p.m. welcome for a friendly moment with something to snack on.
- 7 p.m. start of the book presentation, followed by discussions.
- 9:30 p.m. Vegan meal by friends from ATAB, popular canteen.

* Collective health self-defense
We try to make this event as accessible and safe as possible. For this
reason, we want to ensure that victims of violence can participate,
whatever the type of violence suffered (sexist, sexual, moral and
psychological harassment, etc.), by ensuring that their attackers will
not be present. es.
We are aware that exclusion is not a long-term solution in itself and we
also wish to address this issue during the debates. However, in the
absence of transformative justice, we have few other options to prevent
victims of this violence from being excluded due to the presence of
their attackers.
