More than eight months after the start of a new bloodbath promoted by
Israel against the Palestinian people, the prospect of a solution to end
the massacre is still uncertain. The Zionist colonial entity finds no
barriers to impose its program of destruction and death, while
continuing with the support of Western powers. ---- To date, more than
45 thousand Palestinians have been killed (including 10 thousand
buried), including around 20 thousand children and more than 10 thousand
women, more than 100 journalists, in addition to tens of thousands of
injured people. Eighty percent of the Gaza Strip has been destroyed, and
two million Palestinians are concentrated in Rafah: they are considered
refugees in their own land, subjected to hunger, lack of medicine and
constant bombardment. Neither the International Criminal Court's arrest
warrant against Netanyahu nor the constant international calls for a
ceasefire were enough to stop the process of ethnic cleansing promoted
by Israel.
Since October last year, the United States has sent more than $12
billion in military aid to Israel. The Zionist entity serves the USA as
a strategic ally in the Middle East, to serve imperialist interests in
the region. Other countries such as the United Kingdom and Germany also
maintain strong ties with Israel. Although Netanyahu's government was
more bloodthirsty than the great powers expected, these countries did
not fail to support the State of Israel in the ongoing massacre.
Stopping Israel in its genocidal rage is the most urgent task of popular
and revolutionary movements at an international level. In countries at
the center of capitalism, the working class must maintain the acts that
denounce the massacre, and demand that states stop military aid to
Israel and cease diplomatic relations, at least until the end of the
offensive. The camps at US universities, which were also replicated in
other countries, were an important youth movement in defense of the
Palestinian people. But these movements still need to be widespread so
that Israel no longer has international support.
Peripheral countries, such as Brazil, also have a role to play in this
issue. Regarding the analysis of international relations, Lula's
statements against the massacre promoted by Israel were important, in
addition to the position of the Brazilian State in support of the
complaint made by South Africa at the International Criminal Court,
however, they fell short of what would be necessary. For example, there
was no more concrete action of reprisal against the Zionist entity, such
as the end of diplomatic relations. It is worth remembering that Israel
sells weapons and security software to Brazil - both Palestinians and
Brazilians are monitored and killed with Israeli Zionist weapons.
Here, it is necessary to strengthen actions to denounce the massacre
and, at the same time, carry out actions on the streets - bringing the
Arab/Muslim community itself, which has suffered persecution, threats
and violence in various regions of Brazil, closer to the struggles. We
can mention street demonstrations, debates and the camps themselves,
like the one that took place at USP, Unicamp and other universities
recently. As part of Zionist propaganda, Israeli universities promote
international agreements with universities around the world, and it is
necessary to denounce and prevent this intolerable practice coming from
an Apartheid State.
It is not possible for Western powers to continue supporting the crimes
of Israel, a state founded and maintained with the oppression and
extermination of Palestinians, and which has been promoting a series of
atrocities in the Gaza Strip for eight months. Israel as a Zionist
entity must be defeated, just as Apartheid South Africa, Nazi Germany
and other extremist experiments were defeated.
We defend the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people, as
well as self-defense against the violence of the State of Israel.
Palestinians must be free to build their own social institutions and
forge their future. As anarchists, we aim for a society based on
self-management and direct democracy, anti-statist and anti-capitalist,
unlike some corporate models in the Middle East. The end of colonization
and liberation from Israeli oppression is the fundamental condition for
the Palestinian people to seek their own path to socialist and
libertarian forms of self-government.
