Presentation of "Pa Survival, Not Pa Anarchy: Forms of Self-Management in Earthquake-Targeted Friuli," with author Igor Londero. ---- The celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of the Friuli earthquake, promoted by the government and regional council, were what these anniversaries often become: patriotic celebrations, rhetoric of reconstruction, celebrations of the "Earthquake Mayors" and institutional efficiency. A narrative that deliberately obscured what actually happened in the weeks and months after May 6, 1976.
Because what happened was something else entirely.
