Australia : Anti-gay groups are fighting back
![]() | ||||
Dear,
We did it! On Monday, All Out members took the explosive outrage about the Government's Budget straight to Parliament – asking them not to fund groups that include anti-gay chaplains in Australian schools.
Now anti-gay groups are fighting back. They’re trying to dismiss us as anti-Christian or alarmist – and things are really heating up in Canberra. Together, we've taken our inclusive message to politicians and they're starting to hear us. But if we slow down now, we won't be able to counter the lies and smear.
If enough of us chip in right now, here's what we could do:
We've made such an amazing start together but we've only got until TOMORROW before Parliament closes. To keep going it will take all of us, chipping in just a few dollars each, and we could super-charge our plans to protect vulnerable LGBT students from anti-gay chaplain organisations who are set on doing the wrong thing. Will you chip in now?
https://www.allout.org/australia-schools
This is how we could show every kid across Australia – especially lesbian, gay, bi, trans and questioning kids – that together we're fighting for safe and fair schools. And we're up against a lot.
Just last week, Access Ministries chaplains at Torquay College were found guilty of distributing a "Biblezine" that says being gay is a sin – at a Christmas concert to kids as young as 7!
A teacher in WA has told how her school had a chaplain who handed out anti-gay leaflets and refused to provide care for a gay student, even after other students threatened him and beat him up.
There are lots of great counsellors and chaplains in schools – but together we could close the loopholes that allow rogue, untrained chaplains into schools. Even better, we could stop the organisations with links to anti-gay extremists in Uganda, Russia and around the world, from ever applying for chaplain funding again.
We've got until tomorrow. Can you make a small donation now?
https://www.allout.org/australia-donate
Together, we've made a huge difference around the world. All Out members raised $60,000 in just three days to evacuate 13 Iraqi gay and trans people who were being targeted by militia. In France, more than 325,000 All Out members spoke out for marriage equality and funded an ad in Le Monde, France's largest newspaper. Together, we built critical public momentum and the marriage equality law was passed on May 18, 2013.
When All Out members come together to fight for equality, we know we have what it takes to win.
Will you chip in before Parliament closes tomorrow? Click here and make a secure donation:
https://www.allout.org/australia-donate Thanks for going All Out,
Andre, Hayley, Jeremy, and the rest of the All Out team.
P.S. This federal budget has cut deeply into a lot of Australia's most important services, and people across the country are preparing to fight for what matters to them. If we can make sure LGBT youth are a part of this budget debate, we could get the support of a lot of people who might be focussed on other issues. Together, we're building a powerful, broad force for good. Please make a donation: https://www.allout.org/ australia-donate Sources:

Australia Canberra : it's happening Monday
![]() | ||||
Dear ,
Monday! We're taking the explosive outrage about the government's latest Budget – funding groups that include anti-gay chaplains – and delivering our petition straight to Parliament. Will you join us?
When: Monday, 2 June, 5pm
Where: Front Lawns, Parliament House, Canberra
The more of us out front of Parliament, together, the more we could show every kid across Australia that we’re with them fighting for safe and fair schools. All the headlines, the noise, the social media posts, build up to huge pressure on our politicians to do the right thing.
By taking this petition to Parliament, we are putting the Minister for Education on notice. The Budget needs to change. Qualified counselors shouldn't be losing their jobs while lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender kids could be counseled by an untrained volunteer who believes that being gay is a sin.
Will you be there on Monday? Click here to RSVP on Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/events/1620350368191155
In August we delivered a petition to the Olympic Committee demanding that they change the rules of the Olympics to prevent them from being held by an anti-gay country, like Russia, again. And we won. The Olympic Committee is reviewing their own rules right now. Dozens of people who had signed the petition turned up – and we even made an amazing video of all of us together.
Will you join us in Canberra on Monday?
Thanks for going All Out,
Hayley, on behalf of the rest of the team at All Out.
PS. If you’re not in Canberra, there’s still something you can do. This is our last chance to show how many of us are taking a stand against this Budget. We’ll be adding more names up to the very last minute before we hand it over to politicians. Will you share the petition on Facebook with your friends and family now?

World : Tony's sending in the chaplains
WOW. 159,446 of us have already added our names and called on Tony Abbott not to spend $245 million on an anti-gay religious agenda in schools. We're going to Canberra on Monday to deliver this petition. If journalists see the petition numbers sky-rocketing, and all of us together outside Parliament, they'll know how important this is, and could even make headline news!
Will you ask your friends to add their names? Share the petition on Facebook by clicking this button:
Or just hit forward on this email and ask people to sign the petition here:

World : Update - A lesbian sentenced to death
![]() | ||||
Dear Luc,
Aderonke was arrested, tortured, and sentenced to death in Nigeria for being a lesbian. She fled to safety in the UK.
She went through a humiliating interrogation by UK officials whodidn't believe she's a lesbian. Aderonke's waiting to hear from a judge who could decide to send her back to Nigeria – where she could be killed.
But there's still a chance to help her. The UK Home Office just announced that the process they use for lesbian, gay, bi and trans asylum cases like this is degrading – but so far no changes have been made.
If thousands of us speak out right now, we can create a massive media story that could convince the Home Office to take the next logical step and halt the deportations. Will you sign the petition to Home Office Secretary Theresa May now?
https://www.allout.org/aderonke
It's not just Aderonke's life at stake.There's dozens more LGBT asylum seekers facing the same. One man from Cameroon, who's bisexual and blind, reported last week that he was beaten by deportation officers.
Theresa May's already said that some people have been forced to submit video of themselves having sex or answer humiliating questions during hours of interrogation. And, many people who provide evidence to the Home Office that they will be jailed or killed for who they love have been deported back into danger anyway.
May has the power – and the responsibility – to stop the Home Office from deporting Aderonke until they can be sure everyone's being treated fairly and humanely. But the Home Office may think they've done enough by agreeing to review their process – unless UK citizens and the global media hold them accountable. Sign now and demand Theresa May take action:
https://www.allout.org/aderonke
The very first campaign All Out members joined together on was to stop the UK from sending a woman back to Uganda where she could be jailed for who she loved. Last year, thousands of us called the Home Office to try to stop the deportation of a young gay man to Nigeria.
If we can all speak out right now and get Theresa May to halt the deportation of Aderonke and all other LGBT asylum seekers like her, this could be the last time we have to do this. With fair and humane processes and training for Home Office staff dealing with these cases, people like Aderonke could have a real shot at justice and safety when they're genuinely fleeing for their lives.
Sign now to help Aderonke: https://www.allout.org/aderonke
Thanks for going All Out,
Andre, Hayley, Jeremy, Mike, Pablo, Sara and the rest of the All Out team.
P.S. The All Out office team's in touch with Aderonke. She says that this campaign isn't just important for her but also for other LGBT asylum seekers whose voices are unheard and are facing this hostile asylum process. Will you join Aderonke as she bravely fights for her life and the lives of others in the same danger?https://www.allout.org/aderonke SOURCES:

World : The bully budget
![]() | ||||
Dear,
Imagine you're 16 and you've just realised you might be gay. You're being bullied, so reach out to your school for help – they send you to a chaplain. He says that being gay is a disease and you need to be cured.
Sound outrageous? The Australian government just released the Federal Budget with $245 million to send chaplains from anti-gay religious groups into schools all over the country.
There's still a chance to stop it – next week the opposition parties will decide if they should pass the budget in full, seek to amend it or block it entirely. If this secret religious agenda doesn't make headlines, it could be forgotten and passed without debate.
But if thousands of us sign right now, we could make it a major priority for any Australian politician who wants to make schools more (not less) safe.
We only have a few days. Sign now and forward this email to 5 friends:
https://www.allout.org/australia-budget
This isn't just about budget lines – this is about the lives of young people. 2 out of every 3 lesbian, gay, bi or trans youths in Australia are bullied in school. Some are harassed by their teachers and forced to change schools – or even drop out.
These are the very people qualified social workers could be helping. But if the government gets their way, millions will be poured into keeping these young people from the help they desperately need.
Over the next few days, Australian Senators will have a chance to question the Minister for Education and the Department about this plan – but there's no guarantee they'll even know or care about it unless it's mainstream news. The answers to those questions could expose this whole suspicious scheme. Can you sign now to bring it to their attention?
All Out members working together have already played a huge role in standing against the secret agenda of religious crusaders.
In France, more than 26,000 of us got the Ministry of Education to finally promote a helpline for LGBT youth in schools – keeping the religious anti-gay groups trying to block it at bay. And, more than 68,000 of us just got notorious American anti-gay pastor Lou Engle to pull out of a huge event in Switzerland supporting his work.
Now, we can make sure that the Australian government can't get away with pandering to powerful and extreme religious groups. Sign now to join in:
